Very helpful rep – company keeps their promises
I would like to respond to one of the posts concerning the validity of the apx sales guy that came to my home. The salesman actually referred me to this website while at my home. So after reading both negative and positive responses I felt it somewhat important to share my two cents to all those who read this.
I agreed to go ahead with the installation of the system. The sales person was very polite and asked me a lot of questions to find out what I would use the most out of an alarm. He was also licensed with my state and city.
He was also very clear about the details in the agreement. Also for those who are unclear about the terms of the agreement, I was not only told by the sales person, but by their corporate office during a survey while the sales person was at the house.
In addition, last week my alarm went off for no reason while I was at work. I called their customer service and they were able to tell me what sensor had triggered the alarm. They are extremely simple to work with.
So far I have had nothing but good to say about APXALARM. Thanks for following through with your promises.
Feeling incredibly safe now
We had our alarm system installed in June, the rep came about 6pm and they started installation 1/2 hr later. The installation was not completed until 12:30 that night, but all in all it was well worth it. My husband goes away several times a year and I am disabled, this is the most secure I have felt in years. Everytime I have a question they answer me in a way that I can understand, and they are so understanding and polite. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!
Great cellular service
The girlfriend and I have just had the APX Alarm System (Honeywell) installed into our home. We were extremely satisfied with the work and information the installer had and knew. We, however did not have APX come knocking our door. We ordered it and they came to install. So we did not have the opportunity of them knocking on our door as other people are complaining about. All and all we are extremely satisfied with the company and their reps/service. We recommend this company to anyone. We have not had the opportunity of the alarm being set off to see what just happens and hope this day never comes. We have 2 Yorkshire puppies and a German Shepard puppy inside the house and love the fact someone is still looking out for the house when we are not here. We also are ONLY running on their cellular line as we do not have a lan line and this was cheaper in the long run and the monthly costs of monitoring. We have nothing negative to say about this company and feel bad for the people that have had a bad experience. Thank You.
APX Alarm has continued with there excellent service with the alarm and we have yet to have any problems.
Research first – no rush
Last week we had a visit from a pleasant young man, representing APX.
I had no complaints about how he presented himself, although we did feel very pressured to sign up that night. We were going away the next day and I asked him to return on Monday, he said the offer would be gone, he only had to sell 12 and he would have that done by then. We agreed to sign the contract but asked for installation to be delayed till we got back, it was 8pm. He reluctantly agreed.
The main point – I was not sure if I was finished my contract with ADT, and it was too late to call. He said part of his obligation was to make a call to find out whether or not I was under a service agreement. He even had a slip of paper that he had to sign saying he had done so. He made a quick call and found out I was NOT under contract. So we signed up.
I called the next week to cancel ADT, and found out I have 3 months left in the contract. ADT told me if someone had called to find out if I was under contract, they would not have given out that confidential information! So this was completely bogus. I called APX, and they apologized, said a formal complaint would be made regarding the rep. They agreed to cancel my service (I was within the 10 days).
Tomorrow I fax the cancellation notice and cross my fingers that they honor the contract. Moral of the story – do your own research first, and if they won’t come back in a few days, they must not want your business.
The problem was resolved in the sense that my contract was cancelled and they refunded my money. However I was never told the result of the inquiry into the employees’ conduct. I have since heard similar stories from many others. I would like to know if the practice of asking people to sign up and receive installation the same night is still in effect.
Glad with my system
I am very pleased with APX. They did a good job of installing and explained everything throughly. I forgot the alarm was set and opened the front door. The alarm sounded immedieatly and the operator responded almost at once. I gave the code word and that was that. Operator was businesslike and courteous and didn’t make me feel any worse than I already did. I would refer APX to anyone.
All around great system
The pricing, installation, reps and everything else is awesome! My mother has this system, and we never had problems. I would recommend this company to friends and family members.
Completely happy with my system and service
Awesome company! Great service! I have been very satisfied with apx. The people that complain about the sales reps make me laugh. They did a phone call with me to make sure everything important was explained to me. EX: contract length, monthly bill, etc. It seemed like they have this thing down to be idiot proof. Apparently not. Or in other words you must be an idiot if you complain about the sales rep.
Fast response after a false alarm
I don’t understand all of the negative comments. We’ve had our APX alarm for over a year now (switched from an ADT system) and haven’t experienced any problems detailed in some of the messages on this board. After 3 years with ADT we made the switch to APX after they confirmed that they could set us up with a wireless system. We recently had a false alarm at 1am when I opened the front door after our alarm had been set, but the company promptly called us to ensure that everything was ok. I have no complaints with this alarm company and do recommend them to other customers.
Clear and thorough purchase
The young man who knocked on our door was dressed neatly and offered his ID early into his self-introduction. Because my husband manages a security system where he is a Facilities Manager, I called him into the conversation.
There was absolutely no pressure to accept the service, many important points were mentioned more than once for clarity (length of contract, cost, choices of coverage in the home) and questions were encouraged then answered completely.
Installation took place the same evening in less than an hour with placement of devices made in consultation with us. Phone calls with the company reps during the process were clear and also offered clarification of services. The installation was done professionally by the young men who offered to clean up the little amount of dirt caused by installation. Both service technicians explained all points of operation to us, politely repeating as necessary. One took the trouble to write a couple reminder notes on the back of the user guide to save our having to look up the most commonly used codes.
Our system has not been tested by a problem, but the simplicity of operation has been great. The salesman stopped by the day after installation to ask how the first night with it went, and asked if we had thought of any other questions. We are senior citizens and learned long ago to take responsibility for our purchases and contracts. That means to read well and ask questions, then hesitate for further research if those things are not adequate. At this point, I say we are completely satisfied with a system that meets all requirements of my husband’s professional experience.
Reps were patient and helpful
The Short Story is This APX System is Great But Please read ahead.
The Salesman, let’s call him “AAA” cam to my door on July 3rd about 6 pm. He told he was Offering a APX / Honeywell Upgrade to my Old System. I was interested & invited him in. Sounds Like a Great Deal, after all it’s how I got my first unit from Sears. They’ll pay for ALL the hardware as long as I agree to a 3 year Monitoring Contract, No Problem. I told him if it was OK with my Wife it was OK with me. My Wife was out but would be back, “AAA” came back 3 times until my wife returned home, He spoke to her & we both agreed it was the thing to do.
The Tech installer came about 20 minutes later & within an hour we had a New System Installed. This one is Far better then our 15 year old one & It has a Wireless Phone connection for the Monitoring (A Huge improvement). The Salesman was Knowledgeable Forthcoming Articulate & Friendly. I told him I read some of the review here while we waited for my wife to return & asked him about some of the complaints people had Listed & for better or worse he answered all of them Honestly & All to my Liking. I will be back in 3 months to let you know how it’s going But so far it has been a Very Pleasant & Rewarding experience.
If an APX Salesperson comes to your door & you need an Alarm System Listen to what they have to Offer, Read & Understand the Contract Then decide for yourself I did & I couldn’t be Happier.
Very straight-forward contract
I’m suprised at all the comments saying that the saleperson lied, because after I agreed to purchase the service, I had to talk with the company to make sure everything the salesperson told me was true.
For example, did I understand that the contract was for 39 months, did he tell me the fee was $46 every month, etc. The installer came in and did the install very quickly. He did make one mistake and the window alarm was confused with the motion detector so we had a false alarm that night. Also, as with other posters, I was somewhat suprised that the window sensor was placed in the front of the house where I feel it’s unlikely that someone would break a window – wouldn’t you go to the backyard where no one can see you? Other than that, it was what it was. Everything was very straight forward an there was no deception. The panic buttons on the key fobs are a really nice feature and so far I’m satisfied with the service.
Update (Added Oct 15/09):
I originally posted on 6/1/09 and was asked to comment on if I was still satisfied with my service and I am. The only comment I would have is that they are often slow to call you with the message that your power has gone off. The idea is that someone could cut your power in an attempt to disarm the system (we have batteries for back-up). The first time the electricity went off they called about 15 minutes later to notify us, but the second time they called the next day. It’s not that big of a deal since 99.99999% of the time when the electricity goes out, it’s just a power company problem, but at the same time, if you’re going to call it a feature, you should get it right.
The customer service so far has been excellent…Again, I would do some research on where you want your movement sensors because the install guy I had new how to operate a drill but not so good at really thinking through home security. For example, I would have preferred the motion detector to be in the back of the house where a criminal would likely go because no one could see him/her. The front of the house is very visible to the street, so I don’t think that was the best place for the motion detector, but I hadn’t really thought it through when they came and thought they would know best.
I received excellent sales and service from the APX representatives. The salesman was very professional as was the installer. I manage a large electrical Service Department business so I know the difference between good and bad service. I also know enough to always read a contract before signing to know what you are receiving. I am completely happy to date with APX.
They, APX, have maintained their high level of service.
