Robbed because Protect America failed to work
This system sucks! Protect America did not protect my family. We were robbed yesterday and the they had all day to help themselves because my “security” system failed. And to top it off, Protect America wants to profit off of it because the low life thieves cut the wire and broke my box, the alarm company tells me it is not covered. I have to pay $309 to replace the box! Protect America are thieves too!
They did not resolve anything. I had to pay the $309 for the new box. Then today, I find out that I was originally told my contract was 24 months and now it is 36 months. I called because I wanted the system to be transferred to just my name. My husband and I were both joint but he no longer lives with us and is not allowed in the house. I need my alarm to protect us more than ever. Well, they said they can’t do that without proper credit nevermind the fact they have been drafting their payments from my account that he is not on. They have no problem taking my money, but they can’t seem to protect me and my kids from the one person we need protecting from.
Protect America keeps you safe from surrounding dangers
I live in a bad neighborhood; and I mean BAD. I called every security company at least twice before deciding on Protect America. We have never had any problems with them. Customer support is wonderful. Our alarm really makes us feel better.
Protect America should be out of business
DO NOT BUY! The system is a piece of junk and the contract is written so you have to pay for it whether it works or not. This company should be sued and put out of business. It’s a good lesson in READ THE CONTRACT before you sign it. It’s my lesson and it’s going to cost me a lot of money.
Protect America is a consumer scam. I have not changed my mind. Yes, they were willing to work with me on the alarm system–not canceling the contract-I have been that route before. I am not a technician and have no desire to spend hours on the phone with a piece of junk equipment that will fail within days if you are lucky enough to get it to work at all.
Protect America walks you through the whole set up
I had ordered a system off of Ebay a year ago… had NO help could NOT get it to work… ended up calling Protect America, and signed up for the Silver Package, GE Simon 3.4. Customer service has been good… some seem more knowledgeable then others but I got my system in fine. Two weeks after having the system in I have added a motion detector, wireless keypad.. (LOVE IT)!!! and two glass breakage modules…. they have been very helpful in getting the whole system working… I am very happy with them….
Protect America puts the customer first
I was really frustrated with all security companies that I was calling, until I called Protect America. Everyone was just so pushy and they didn’t want to answer my questions until I committed to buying their system first. Finally, after calling Protect America, I got a really nice girl on the phone who answered all my questions. After hearing about her system and how it’s the lowest monitoring rate, I decided to buy it. After all, she was the only person who gave me good customer service. She made my day! They really have the customer at heart.
Problems from the very start
My experience with this company has been unsatisfactory from the beginning.
Ordered a new system on a Wednesday to be sent overnight so that I would get before the weekend where we were going be gone for – nothing was ever shipped. The day before I called to make sure everything was setup and it would ship out overnight like setup in our order and they csr stated, “Yep, everything is setup.” Well no tracking number or order the next day. So we call customer service a second time and they seemed utterly clueless as they couldn’t even find us in their system and when they finally did they said it didn’t ship because we didn’t sign the online agreement…. but we did. It was electronically signed the moment that seperate email came with our reciept email. So here it is now Friday, no security system, and here I am reading all these horror stories about this company.
I called them to back again as they requested to speak with someone in shipping and find out why the order hasn’t shipped yet as everything on our end was completed. The dept wasn’t in still despite being told they were, asked for a supervisor and he said “no supervisor is in yet right now” and then I asked… can I cancel the order then please before we get charged for this unacceptable service and first impression. Checking bank to make sure we don’t get charged. If we do, I predict a massive nightmare for us.
The old saying is true… if something sounds too good to be true (free new equiptment, low rates, claiming better service than ADT & Brinks, etc) – it probably isn’t true.
This is the worst company ever– be warned
Consumer beware! Protect America is by far the worst company I have ever done business with. There customer service is substandard and the staff is rude. They will continue to charge you long after you have stopped service. Under no circumstances would I recommend this company to anyone. I encourage anyone wanting to do business with this company to research the reviews posted to the internet. If I can spare one person from falling victim to their shady way of conducting business than I have done my job.
My issues with Protect America have not been resolved. They continue to be unresponsive to my emails and telephone calls. I am contemplating legal action against them.

Protect America is outstanding! We have been with them since the beginning. I believe we contracted in 1993. Their service has always been spectacular and they have always been very responsive. They even upgraded our old system last year when we renewed our contract. What a gem! I definitely recommend their service.
System was FREE! Couldn’t be happier
Protect America is great! We ordered their Silver Package and they waived shipping. We ended up getting the entire system for free. The install was simple and the cellular monitoring works great!
Had to record and play back conversations multiple times to get results…
DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!!! They are the worst I have seen in customer service.
When I originally placed my order, it never shipped. After 10 days I called to cancel the order to have someone local come out and install a system since I needed it in a hurry before leaving out of town. I was given a complete run around, was told the package had already shipped, lied to multiple times and on and on. I was told the package shipped on a friday but when I recieved a tracking email from Fedex, it stated late the following monday. I had Fedex send it back and am currently on hold with them, 45 minutes so far with no live person to speak with. Hang up and call back, ask for manager………. put on hold again, another 20 minutes no one picking up.
I can guarantee this will be a nightmare getting the charges reversed and will probably still be billed a monthly service fee. Never, ever deal with this company, ever, ever, ever, ever. Did I say never ever?
3 Month Update:
I did finally get this resolved after multiple calls to them. I spent roughly 8-10 hours on the phone and had to record each call and play it back several times to different people I would still not recommend this co. to anyone though. Their customer service is absolutley horrible and if you have an issue, it will take days to get it resolved. Funny how when you call, If you select sales from the menu, you are answered immediately. If you select cancellation dept, it hangs up on you. The dept doesn’t exist!! Anyone looking for security systems should do themselves a favor and use a local company who’s business depends on their service. I had to pay for equipment and install but, there is no contract and the monthly monitoring is $9.99 monthly instead of $35.00.
Avoid Protect America completely, you will regret it if not.
Protect America is a scam, now use ADT and love it
DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS COMPANY. When I signed up almost a year ago, I told them that I had read some substandard reviews, and that I was concerned about the customer service and my ability to cancel if I get deployed. The lady assured me that I would be taken care of.
After I recieved my 3rd battery because the first 2 kept dying and beeping constantly, I decided I’d had enough. I called and asked that a technician come down and install it properly because I obviously was doing something wrong. The lady said that she would have a tech call back with a date for them to come down. After almost a month, I still did not receive a phone call back, so I called them back again. It was past the billing date, but I told them that it had been shut off for almost a month, and I was not going to pay for the system until it was put back on. They said I now needed to pay a $150 Tech charge to come and install it.
The next day I recieved a phone call from their collection department. It is amazing how their collections called, but neither their tech nor customer service depts had returned my calls in almost 2 months. Now I am currently recieveing phone calls almost 2 times a week from their collections… but they have still yet to send out a tech to fix my account. I am military and deploying soon. I called and said that I am deploying and need to cancel my account since my wife will be going back home for the year. They said that since my wife is on the account, I will not be able to cancel she can take it with her and set it up there. I explained that there is already another system there, and I am not going to have my wife bring the system with her just because she is moving temporarily.
This company is a scam; do not be fooled by the special prices and award winning systems.
3 Month Update:
I still feel they are a scam. The system was just shy of a law suit before they realized I was not going to be taken advantage. My contract is terminated and I am now with ADT and I love it. When I call, they fix my problem on the spot.
Refer a friend and get a credit
I just renewed my contract with Protect America in September, and I have to say we’ve never had any problem with them!
We got the system for free and it was shipped within 24 hours. I don’t remember who I spoke with but she was extremely helpful in explaining all the different packages they had. I’ve referred one person so far to them, which got me a $200.00 credit on my account!! I’m trying to get my wife’s parents to get one before I use the credit. You don’t need to buy extra gadgets because even just the basic package comes with everything you need, but hey, I’m a guy so of course I want all the extra stuff, haha.
I definitely recommend Protect America because their system is free, they have the lowest monitoring rate of anyone, and you get free money for referring someone. They probably have the best system, too; we’ve never had any problems!
Proud Protect America customers
My mother has been a Protect America customer for a while and referred me to the company about eight months ago.
I got a couple months of service for free for being a referral. The salesperson was a bit overexcited, but overall she was not too pushy. I already knew all about the package that I wanted, but I let her go through her spiel anyway. I knew from my research that I was going to have to install the system myself and I felt confident about it. LOL.
You should have seen my face when I opened the package. I felt completely overwhelmed and I had no idea what to do. Good news was that I had received a call from Jason, one of Protect America’s support technicians, earlier in the day and we had already scheduled a time for him to walk me through the installation. I guess they track all of the orders or something because he already knew that the package was being delivered that day. Before speaking with Jason again, I had decided to read the instructions and watch the support movie they sent with the package. The installation went much better than I had expected. Took us about 35 minutes. They only issue that I had, was that I had miscounted my windows. I was two sensors short, but not a big deal. I paid for them and Jason had them overnighted. Since then I have not really had any reason to contact them except to order a keychain control, which went fine.
Overall, they are okay with me. Also, I could use a couple months of service for free so if someone wants to say I referred them, be my guest. LOL
Because of Protect America, grandmother is still alive
Protect America saved my grandmother’s life! She had a heart attack last night and managed to press the button on her medical safety necklace. They called my mother and I right after calling for an ambulance. She is in the hospital still, but doing okay. If it were not for that alarm, none of us would have known. I had to write this comment because my grandmother could have passed away if it were not for Protect America. I recommend this company to everybody!
Protect America has been worth every penny
I’ve used Protect America for several years now, and they’ve been more than satisfactory.
And, as a side note, I would always suggest reading a contract before agreeing to anything. This goes for any company. For those who are disgruntled about the nature of the contract, the problem might lie more with a lack of due diligence on the part of the buyer. Enough said in regard to that.
As far as Protect America goes, I don’t think you’ll probably find a much better deal than they will give you. And, since these guys have been around for a while, I’d imagine, you can expect them to be around for the long-term. That matters to me when it comes to home security. And, as far as reliability goes, I can tell you that Protect America’s home alarm system has worked for me, when it counted most for my home and family and this includes thwarting a break-in attempt while we were out of town.
It’s been worth every penny and more.
Protect America plays phone games
Don’t even call this company! The worst company I ever did business with.
I ordered two alarm systems, and when I asked what was shipped I was told everthing that I didn’t order. Then they tried to charge me for the delivery and restocking fee @ 99.00 each. I had to close my credit card, for they got me for the delivery charge! For something I didn’t even order.
After 12 calls to the company and many emails and their phone games telling me nothing they can do but call another person! So I told them I will contact my aunt who works with the NJ Attorney Generals Office for further action I can take against them. They called me back in 10 minutes telling me they will not charge me and will return the money to my account which I told them I closed and that they would have to send me a check. He replied “I dont know if we can issue a check” and I would need another bank account number. Like that’s going to happen. Got me once and not going to get me twice!
I’ll take the $19.95 loss rather to deal with them…please protect yourself, don’t use this company.
Protect America makes it extremely difficult to cancel
If you are considering Protect America, read the agreement VERY carefully before you sign anything.
I tried canceling my service today, because it’s been over two years and my original contract was over. I no longer need the service. Finally, after waiting on the call 45 minutes for a cancellation rep, I was told that my contract automatically renewed in September. The rep mentioned that the clause is in the second paragraph. OK, although they can legally do this after I signed the contract, most businesses (if they are customer centric) will notify customers that there contract is about to be renewed. When I asked this? Well, they said the law does not require this because I live in Arizona.
To make matters more difficult, I have to send a written notification that I want to cancel my account. I was told on the phone that the address is also in the agreement form, but the fax number isn’t. So, how do you know if they received the letter? I guess you have to keep calling and wait on line forever each time.
Summary: If you are looking for an alarm company that provides good customer service, look elsewhere! Also, if you do choose Protect America, keep in mind that you will most likely have difficulties canceling your service when you find you no longer need it.
Try for yourself: call ‘sales’ then call ‘service’ … big difference in wait time
I am not one to write reviews, but Protect America’s horrible customer service (if you can even use the word ‘service’) and total ineptitude demands that I warn others. This program is a total scam. They sign you up for three years with no cancellation option. The easiest way to verify for yourself how horrible this company treats their customers is to call their 800 number (800 951 5111) and compare the wait time between sales (press 1) and service (press 2). The wait time on sales is less than 10 seconds. The wait time on service can be in excess of 15 minutes.
Protect America LIES, says customer never called for service
This company is a scam. I have been having the same problems as the other consumers with this contract cancellation. I been trying for 2 years and have been paying for service I haven’t used. I no longer have a landline so the old system is of no use. Their customer service is rude and of no help. They tell lies about calling you or that you never contacted them in the past. A class action lawsuit is needed!!

I have been so happy with my alarm from Protect America. The customer service has been very helpful and informative. The alarm works great! I have been a customer for over 4 years now. Most of these complaints I see on this site are from people that have failed to read the contract and now are looking for a handout.

After you sign the contract, Protect America doesn’t care about you anymore
Do not do business with Protect America. Please check with the BBB and you will find out why. The sales person will promise the world and once the contract is signed you are no longer the company’s concern. I signed a 3 year agreement and am on my 32nd month with the system yet to be installed. Their customer service is extremely rude if you can at all get a hold of someone live. BUYER BEWARE.
Protect America sent a used and broken system
When I received the system, I noticed that it was not new. The control station was damaged and it was not properly packaged. There was a rather amaturish repair to the backup power supply connector.
In spite of this, the system was easy to install and the service department was very helpful in configuring the application. A week later, the control station developed a problem and would not stay in contact with the company’s monitoring station.
To make a long story short, the company has yet to resolve the problem in spite of a new control station, a new router (for monitoring via the internet) and more than 15 hours of effort on my part in following the instructions they provided. For the past several days, they have failed to call me back as I try to pursue the solution to the problem.
Today I checked with the Better Business Bureau and discovered that the company has an unsatisfactory rating. Of course, I should have checked with the BBB first.
I would not recommend this company to anyone and I heartily suggest that you seek out a different alarm company.

If your alarm fails to work (as mine did frequently) you WILL NEVER see a technician to fix it. Instead the company will try to diagnose the problem over the phone,send parts in the mail and then try to walk you thru the repair,ON THE PHONE !! We spent hours doing this and I finally canceled my contract. Protect America continued to bill my credit card and when I called to find out why, I was informed that I would have to pay for another 11 months for a service that I was not receiving. Apparently you have to cancel 60 days before the expiration of your contract or you will continue to be billed. My choice is to pay or have my credit ruined.
Please,please ,please,do not subscribe to this unscrupulous company’s service.The service is less than second rate and their business practices involve contractual thievery. I still intend to contact The Better Business Bureau,but I don’t think it will do any good. I wish that I had read these postings before I signed up with this unscrupulous company.
This is an expensive lesson learned.
Negotiated a great contract
I have had my system for two years and the service has been great. I had this installed by a local company here in AZ and signed a 24 month contract. Yes, there are 24 month deals out there (Armour Alarm in AZ).
I actually read my contract as well and asked the right questions when I signed up. It says you must provide 60 days notice before the end of the contract to cancel it. You can even send in the notice right after you sign up so you won’t forget. If you get the notice in on time you should also know that they will call you to verify your intent to cancel just before the contract is up. They want to keep your business and will negotiate a new monitoring contract at a much lower price. Their reps are very helpful and will go back and forth with you until you get a reasonable price.
$12.95 per month, 1 month free and a free accessory is what they finally offered me.
I accepted immediately.
