Should've known better
I have had Firstline for one year.
I was confused when SAI started handling this account. My home is in foreclosure and will no longer be living here as of 6/15/08. Unless I file for bankruptcy I am stuck for two more years of payments. They would not let me get out of my contract whatsoever. So basically I will be paying for something I will not be using. I am very, very unhappy. Do not go with these folks. ADT will let you get out of their contracts, these people will not no matter what the situation is.
I wish I would have checked online before committing to this. I should have known better when I had the young door to door salesman come to my door.
Will there be future problems
My husband and I had our house broken into last year and when the rep came to our door we were very interested.
She was very good and explained everything about the contract. I thought that she was a very well trained person and knew all about the systems. We had a good installer too but took two trys to do the job right. There was a bad monitor and had to go get another one not his fault. We did have problems with our account and them taking money out of our checking account at first but they straightned that out. We have had a couple of occasions when they called us telling us that there was an attempted break in when we already had shut off our alarm so that was annoying.
I am concerned reading the other comments that our house is no longer safe and we are still paying every month for this service. Is our contract that we signed still valid or can we switch companies if we want to since they have filed for bankruptcy?
People should avoid Firstline
I had an alarm system installed about one year ago and have had nothing but problems with SAI and Firstline security.
Their customer service dept. is unprofessional and poor to say the least. I would wait on hold to speak with a customer service rep for close to an hour only to be redirected to other departments. When I finally was directed to the right dept. the customer service reps. for both companies were rude and offered little help or assistance with the issues I was having.
SAI fradulently withdrew funds from my account several times and when I put a block on my account to stop them from having access to my account they would attempt to use other numbers in an attempt to access funds from my account. I filed several complaints with the BBB re: both companies. I never got a response from SAI and Firstline of course attempted to apologize but did nothing to rectify the situation.
I have never experienced problems with a company as I did with SAI and Firstline and would highly advise people to stay away.
Problems for months....
When our system was installed 3 years ago we had nothing but problems.
First it made our telephone not work, First line said it was the phone companies problem, so we had the phone company out. Bell South said NO. First line had not installed the system correct. We disconnected the system and our phone worked fine. So I called First Line and told them the happy news. They came out, cut a HUGE hole in my wall and said hey fixed the problem. I picked up the phone and no dial tone. Now I had a huge hole in my wall, wires going everywhere and no phone or security system. I told the guy to just disconnect his system so at least I had a phone that worked. He did so and left. Than I started getting numerous calls daily saying my system was sending out a alarm and to put in my code. Well of course putting in the code did not work because my system was not even hooked up which I explained over and over again. Ths went on for months.
Now…3 or so years later I get some letter from someplace call Criticom saying my account is past due and I owe 150.00 and the last months payment etc. etc. I cant get them to call me back, although they give me a website to go to…there is no such website, and they are threatening to ruin my credit.
All over a system that never worked and I was never billed for!!!!
Ending their services
Two Utah FirstLine Security representatives came to my door in July 2007. You know that old saying “if it seems to good to be true, it must be”. I didn’t listen to my instincts and was swayed away from ADT for a promised lower monthly billing.
They had someone at my house in 20 minutes changing out my system to theirs and notified ADT. I was too embarrarsed to do it. I should have, they may have talked me out of leaving and saved me the hassles. It took them 5 trips (and lost work time for me) to finally get the system workable.
Then, one morning I set the back door alarm off, I immediately shut the door and waited for the alarm company to call me. No call ever came. I called 2 hours later and was informed that the alarm would not notify the control center if the alarm sounded for less than 30 seconds. Excuse me? By that time the intruder could have been inside ripping me off and walking out the front door. I called several times and was held waiting for 10 minutes or more and when I finally did get someone was put back on hold for another 5 minutes. When I finally did get to talk with someone…..Rude. Should have changed back to ADT then.
In October 2007, FirstLine Voice representative called to ask if I wanted to try the wireless internet for 30 days free. Did not receive package as promised. In December 2007, again, the same representative called and declared he was sorry the package did not get mailed but it would be arriving in the next week. Again, did not receive package as promised. I wasn’t going to install anyway with that crappy service. Well, guess what arrived in the mail yesterday, 5/5/08. I refused the package and sent it back with a note stating I have gone back to ADT officially as of 4/30/08, FirstLine Security is officially no longer my monitoring service. I cannot get anyone to return my calls I leave on their answer machine at 800-705-7681 & 866-434-7785 so that I can cancel. My service ends as of 4/30/08<—– documented 5/6/08.
Go anywhere else
Me and my wife was offered a home security system from Firstline with free upgrades and all! Shouldn’t have fell for this!!
First they interupted my 2yr old’s birthday party, alarm sales and installation! We agreed though. We also told them we would be moving to another house and would need the system transferred. They said,” no problem, your an advertising home, we do it for free!” NOT!!!!!
Two weeks before moving, we called them six times, left six messages, and got no call backs till four weeks later. Then we were told that it would cost us $299 to reinstall at our new house. $199 if “WE” remove our old system! And we have a $99 instant rebate that is supposedly “not good.” We called our salesman, because he left his # on our card and he said he only worked there last summer, he sold it to us on 11/02 07. He suddenly remembered and told us ok he will call his manager and fix this problem. Never called us back. We called him 2 days later and his phone was disconnected!! GO FIGURE!! So we tried to cancell and they told us we need to pay 100% of the rest of our contract, not 75%. We are screwed!!!! Called laywers and were told there is nothing we can do cause we signed a contract. We even tried to cancel the auto bank deduction, that doesn’t work either! We are currently still dealing with this company and its been six weeks.
For everybody looking for an alarm company, DO NOT USE FIRSTLINE!!!
Don't fall for firstline
My husband was approached with a salesman at our home, informing us if we were an advertising home we would pay nothing as long as we kept the sign in our front yard.
I told the guy that our street was at a dead end and that we did not get alot of traffic and he said that it did not matter, as long as we kept the sign in our front yard, we would get the service for free. I informed him that there is never “Free”, he said we would be billed a monthly monitoring fee and we would be reinbursed monthly for that fee. All we had to do is give him our checking account so the monthly fee can be taken from the account and we would receive a monthly reinbursment. Well, we had more then one fee taken from our checking account. When I tried to reach Firstline to find out what was going on, they put me on hold for 20 minutes and then diconnected me. I have tried many times to reach this company with no success. I feel real bad because we have recommeded them to a few friends who have used them.
My warning now is stay away from this company!
Firstline is very dishonest
We were approached first by a sales rep telling us that we could have a free alarm system put in (pay only the monthly charges) if we would submit to a sign in our front lawn. During the installation the tech asked us if we would like the smoke alarm and motion detectors put in. I, of course, agreed. No mention was made that I was to be charged for any of this. Three months later a $400 charge appears on our bank statement.
When I called “customer service” I was informed that I signed the contract and there was nothing that could be done. I asked to speak to a manager and I was refused. The representative continued to stonewall until I requested to speak to Cancellations. There I was informed that to cancel I would be charged an early cancellation fee of 75% of my remaining contract or a total of over $600.
This company is dishonest and should not be trusted.
Trying to stop withdrawls
We have tried to contact Firstline Security in regards to automatic withdrawls from our checking account as they have been withdrawing two different amounts, one amount not authorized. Each time we try and call we get a disconnect.
Finally after much frustration my husband reached someone who told him that first line has filled for bankrupcy. We’ve tried thru the internet to no avail either. We have no way to find out what’s going on as we’ve received no written documentation from them. So we don’t know if were still be monitored or not. I’m not sure who monitores us. We live in Longmont, Co. Our concern is to get the auto withdrawls stopped.
Going with Firstline is a huge mistake
One of the biggest mistakes of my life.
I have never had an alarm system before. I took a chance going with Firstline and I have been trying to get a hold of them for over a week. I tried all hours of the day and still can not. I feel like a fool for not doing a little more research. Not to mention, I feel bad for a friend whom I recommended the same alarm system. He is fixing to take a hit on his credit report because he is tired of throwing his money away and not receiving protection. Sadly to say, I do not feel safe in my home. The dumb thing does not even work and I have only had it for a few months. When opening one of my doors the alarm does not even recognize that it is open.
I strongly encourage people to look elsewhere. If there is a lawsuit, I would glad and happy to be part of it.
