Whether you select one of ADT’s traditional service and equipment packages or opt for their Pulse service, you’ll be required to sign a three-year service contract. There’s no trial period, though you have a three day “cooling off” period after the professional installation during which you can cancel ADT without penalty as mandated by federal law. After the three-day period, the contract is in full effect and you will have to pay 75% of the remaining balance of your monthly monitoring fees in order to cancel. If, for example, you have their Total Protection Plus monitoring package at $47.99/month and decide to cancel ADT service after the first year, you would have to pay $863.82 ($47.99 x 24 x 75%).

CPI Security Cancellation Policy
CPI professionally installs their security equipment packages at no additional cost to the customer. Currently, CPI Security is promoting their InTouch Package, which would cost new customers only $199 for the equipment. Once installed, customers have three days to cancel CPI Security, after which the 39 or 60 month contract remains in effect for the duration of the term. If you do decide to end service early, you’re responsible for 75% of the remaining balance. If you’re paying a monitoring fee of $32.95/month and have a 60-month service agreement and decided to cancel after the first year of service, you would pay a cancellation fee of $1,186.20 ($32.95 x 48 x 75%).

How to Cancel Frontpoint
Frontpoint will gladly assist you with a moving kit to help you bring your system with you or, if someone is moving in and they’d like to keep the system, you may be able to transfer the account to their name. You may also pause or freeze your account for a period of time. If these aren’t available options, expect to pay up to 80% of your remaining contract as a cancellation fee. Guardian Protection Services
Guardian Protection Services offers four different Guardian Edge™ Packages from Essential to Premium to meet the varying needs of different homeowners. Regardless of the package you decide on for your home, you will only have three days after installation to change your mind and cancel Guardian without penalty. After the three day period, the contract remains in full effect for the 36-month term. If you decide you need to cancel Guardian service within the three year period, you will have to pay the full amount of your remaining monthly monitoring fees. For example, if you choose their Essentials package for $34.95/month and you decide to cancel after one year of service, you would owe a total of $838.80 ($34.95 x 24).

After this cooling off period, you are responsible for paying the monthly monitoring rate of $44.95 for 36-month contract. And while the company does offer a 14-day trial period, after the two week period, you will be committed to paying the full amount of the three-year contract, even if you cancel Protect America service early – you’ll owe 100% of the remaining monthly monitoring fees. For example, if you selected their Silver package, you would be paying a $37.99/month fee for 36-months. If you cancel after year one, you would owe $911.76 ($37.99 x 24).

If you need to cancel your Protect America service, you can avoid any cancellation fees by transferring your account to a friend or family member. If you’re unable to do that, follow Protect America’s standard cancellation process by calling 800-951-5111 and selecting option 4.
Protection 1 Cancellation Policy
Similar to most home security companies that professionally install their alarm systems, Protection 1 only offers the federally-mandated three-day right of rescission for customers. After the three-day period has passed, you will be held to the legally binding terms of the Protection 1 36-month service agreement. Unlike many other providers, Protection1 has a maximum cancellation fee of $750. So, regardless of when you decide to cancel Protection 1 service early, you will pay the $750 fee or the remainder of your balance, whichever is less.
