While most believe “everything’s bigger in Texas”, the state of Minnesota has the Lone Star state beat in more than a couple categories, Located in Bloomington, the Mall of America, is the size of 78 football fields, making it the largest indoor shopping center in the United States with over 500 stores receiving over 40 million visitors a year.
With its sparse population and open spaces, AlarmSystemReviews.com wasn’t entirely surprised to see the state on our list. It’s no small wonder this large state ranks 5th on our list of the Safest Places to Live in the United States.

Plainview, Minnesota’s Safest Place To Live
A small but progressive town in southeastern Minnesota located about 20 miles from Rochester, Plainview offers their residents a safe and secure place to live. Only a few miles from the Mississippi River, residents and visitors alike can enjoy all manners of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing and boating.
St. Joseph
Situated in Stearns Country, Minnesota, St. Joseph was first settled as a township in 1854 before finally being incorporated in 1890 and named after a local church. Today, the town may be best known for it’s major landmarks which include St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Benedict’s Monastery and the College of St. Benedict, an all-women’s Catholic college.
Winona
Located in the beautiful bluff country on the Mississippi River, the most noticeable landmark is Sugar Loaf, which overlooks the city and is topped by a rock pinnacle. Towering 500 feet over Lake Winona, the pinnacle rises another 85 feet above. Sugar Load is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is known as one of Minnesota’s most famous landmarks.
Deephaven
Found in Western Hennepin Country, Deephaven is a western suburb of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and is mainly a residential or bedroom community with little if any industry. The city’s chief attraction is Lake Minnetonka with three deep bay-cuts bordering the city and points and peninsulas overlooking the lake and providing beautiful views and year-round recreational activities for residents and visitors.
Glenwood
Set among the rolling hills by the eastern shore of Lake Minnewaska, the fourteenth largest lake in the state. The city of Glenwood is the county seat for Pope County Minnesota and was featured on A Prairie Home Companion and offers year-round recreational activities, including biking, camping, hunting, fishing and camping. Glenwood is a town for every season and is located approximately two hours west of the Twin Cities.
