

This is not a comment regarding Vector specifically, but to the person that had been a customer for 5.5 years and left Vector because they didn't respond to alarms that you cancelled quickly.
That is the whole point of knowing how to cancel an alarm that you set off accidentally. You cancel it so that the alarm company doesn't respond to it. If you needed help, then you wouldn't have turned your alarm off. The first company we had gave us a special code to use if we need to turn our alarm off in a real emergency. Brinks never mentioned it and Vector didn't mention it until I asked about it. In those cases they don't call, they just dispatch the police. If your alarm continues to go off without the cancel code, THEN they call your house.
It seems that you left a perfectly good security company for an invalid reason. The ADT cancellation policy seems to be the exact same as Vector's so you left a company for no reason and gained nothing except paying a buyout fee.
