Customer Reviews For Safemart Security (a.k.a. Ocusafe):
Safemart now owns their own monitoring company called Ocusafe, based in Kansas.  You may, however, still be monitored by Criticom.  If you submit a review, please let us know if you are reviewing Safemart's equipment, monitoring service, or both.
Each one of these Safemart customer reviews have been submitted anonymously by present or former Safemart clients.  Safemart is aimed primarily at the "do it yourself" consumer; you need an installed and functioning alarm system to sign up for their monitoring service.  You can purchase a system from Safemart or any other source and install the hardware, or already have a system installed in your home.
(Added Jan 19/12) My alarm system was installed by one of the biggest alarm company in the US( 3-letter name, I hope you know which company I am talking about). Then, around Christmas 2011, I changed from landline phone to internet phone. Then my alarm system had problems communicating with their monitoring system. This company asked us to buy their wireless system because the landline system would not work with internet. We agreed, but after setting up many appointments for their techs to come to my house to install the wireless system, they failed to show up and never called us. I had to call them to find out. After getting sick with this arrogant attitude of this big company, I decided to search the internet  to see if there was a better alarm company than this big-shot company. Then I found Safemart, bought their wireless system, installed it with their help on the phone, and I paid $20/month for monitoring service, about $25 cheaper than the previous big shot company. It's been more than a year, and everything is great. I tested my system once in a while and got their response very quickly. I am very happy with Safemart. By the way, the monitoring company is Criticom. I guess Safemart uses service from Criticom.
(Added Jan 19/12) SafeMart claims to be the largest security system company in the U.S. They offer do-it-yourself systems.  I am experienced in installing systems but needed a GSM (cellular radio) system with wireless sensors for a building being remodeled that has no phone lines.   The salesman offered me a "great package price" with 21 months "free" monitoring included.  Once the system was received and online account established the web site shows 12 months @ 29.90.  After SafeMart was contacted regarding this matter three days went by without a contact.  A new request was submitted - yet no response. The system was configured with 14 sensor by SafeMart when shipped to me.  Each sensor had a number on it (in addition to TX code).  The codes that SafeMart entered in their database do not match what I received.  That means that some of the sensors will not work or are mislabeled. The system status (on their website) now shows "Panel - Modem unable to communicate with control panel".  This is an internal component on their system.  I am told that tech support is not available and that some one will return a call "tomorrow".  I have worked with many systems over the years.  This has been the absolute worst to-date... and still not operational.  To date I have 4-5 times the hours in the configuration than most systems take to configure and install from ground up.If you want to protect your valuables and your family I would look for a reputable vendor.
(Added Jan 9/12) These alarm monitoring is rip off after I purchased and installed the alarm and pre paid monitoring tomonitor your system .My door accidentally open by my kid armed ,alarm went off and no call ,it happen 3 times when you call them it's answering machine forwarding you to different depart of oblivion . They are only good getting your money but they don't comply with service. Fraud company I guess the bbb should look to this prepaid alarm monitoring.
(Added Dec 16/11) I purchased a wireless alarm system as a gift. Since placing my order, I've been continuously contacted by a string of Safemart sales representatives, by e-mail and phone, trying to get me to sign up for monitoring service.  Sometimes I get three voice messages and accompanying e-mails every week. It's unreal.
(Added Nov 17/11) I searched for weeks online looking for a wireless alarm system and monitoring company. Narrowed options down to GE Simon XT and Honeywell/Ademco for alarms and Safemart and Frontpoint for service. Decided on the GE with GSM for wireless service since we do not have a landline. Was initially going to use Frontpoint, however, even if I prepaid for my service they wanted my SS#. Not to mention their services costs more. I called safemart and their Customer Service rep's were very helpful. My order was shipped same day and arrived a week sooner than expected. Everything was preprogrammed and labeled for us, all we had to do was place sensors. Called to see if I could have my system activated sooner than my appointment (which was 4 days later) and they went ahead and activated it right then.So far, very happy with service and equipment. And would recommend their products and services.
(Added Oct 27/11) Had a very smooth set-up with safemart over two weeks ago.  Parts arrived on time, install was a breeze.  Customer service was fantastic both in ordering and set-up.  Also, monitoring has been excellent so far.  Haven't had an opportunity to test their response to a serious alarm and hopefully never will!
(Added Oct 21/11) I've been up and running with my Safemart system for about a week now and it's been smooth sailing. Their support has been great and even yesterday when I needed help, even though I kept missing their support rep, she was persistent and found a time when we could both connect (we kept trading voicemails). So far, I am very pleased with my purchase and like everyone else, will be thrilled if my alarm never actually goes off..
(Added Oct 21/11) Previously, I had another monitoring company and I was not satisfied with them to say the least.  While on the enternet I found SafeMart called and I have had nothing but satisfaction with them.  From the first telephone conversation until the programing of my unit, it has been a wonderful experience.  Everyone I have spoken with has been very helpful and nice as can be.  I use SateMart at both my home and my mom's.  I give you a BIG 10!!!!
(Added Sep 23/11) I was very hesitant in buying the DIY install alarm system, because I am not very handy around the house.  I did research in the difficulty of installation and it did not seem dificult.  I checked it out in youtube.  I purchased the GE Simon XT after some extensive research.  I liked the home automation with z-wave which in my opinion has the best reliability compared to smarthome and lutron products.  I have had my system for three months.  The alarm system is complete with light control for the entire house, door lock control, trane thermostat control, and video surveilence.  Everything is done by my iPhone.  I can control my lights from my cell phone from anywhere. Just recently I had a plumber work at the kids bathroom.  I was able to let him in the house by opeining the front door with the schlage link deadbolt lock.  I was able to monitor his everymovment inside the house with the cameras.  Really cool thing was when he found out the problem he explained it to me over my work phone and was showing it to me over the cameras so I could see over the internet what he was talking about.  I did not have to miss a day of work for this.  Another great feature is, you can check on the kids when they get home from school.  You can see if they have friends over before they finish home work. Enough of the products, the service of Safemart was no hassle.  They were always patient and never pushy in selling the most expensive products.  I loved how they never used scare tactics and did not make me feel like I was not protecting my family and home if I did not purchase the most expensive unit.  Even after I bought the service and products two weeks later I had questions about how to install my cameras they were very helpful and did not get off the phone until everything was fine.  They even did a follow up to make sure there was no issues.  Safemart thank you for all your help, and I am glad I found a company in you that still remembers customer service is the foundation to a great company.
(Added June 4/11) I would never, ever consider myself a "do it yourself" but a friend convinced me to try SafeMart.  After receiving my system in the mail, I opened it, installed it and my home was monitored in about 30 minutes.  I never waited for an installer and I easily saved $500.  Really really happy with SafeMart.
(Added May 1/11) Order the cellular modem to support alarm.com.  They were very helpful getting everything configured.  Great job.
(Added May 1/11) I order the Honeywell alarm system from Safemart. It was easy to install and the shipment was fast. I had a problem with programming the system. I call safe mart and the technical support is the best. They help me thought the whole thing. I’m very satisfied with the value and service that Safemart will give you. A year later I order the GSM with monitoring service. I pay 20 buck a month with a one year contract so far no problem with the system.
(Added May 1/11) As I travel a great deal, I wanted to install a security system to keep tabs on home and provide peace-of-mind for my wife. I started doing research on the various systems and providers - and was instantly overwhelmed by all the options. Then, I found SafeMart's site. It was very simple, very clear. I used the online chat feature to ask questions and they were incredibly responsive and helpful. I ended up ordering a full system and they totally hand-held me through the entire process, including registering the system with my municipality. What could be a scary, complex thing was made easy and head-ache free. I have a service rep that I deal with directly - he answers my questions quickly. They've already helped me upgrade my system to allow more flexibility. I highly recommend them. The products they provide are easy, their service is great - and above all - they hand-hold you. I'd recommend them to anyone.
(Added May 1/11) I purchased an alarm system from SAFEMART for my business in March 2011 and I can honestly say that from the very first phone call I have received A1 service from that company.  Never having purchased or even used an alarm system created a bit of anxiety and fear in me that made me apprehensive, but the representative I spoke with...(Read the Rest of the Review)
(Added May 1/11) I was looking for a new Alarm Monitoring company so I searched the internet and that is how I found Safemart.  I have had my home monitored for many years and the most recent Devcon Security out of Florida, this company and its employees couldn't get a thing straight from the call sequence when an alarm came into there monitoring location to billing the worst company I have ever had to deal with. But they knew how to keep increasing their rates.
When I moved from New York to Florida I had my monitoring company from New York monitor my alarm, I never had a problem.  So when I saw the Safemart advertisment I said what do I have to loose, so I left my contact information and they called me the next day.  The sales person was very friendly, asked all the questions needed to monitor my system including my landline carrier because I know that sometimes could be an issue. We spoke about the monitoring fee which is much less than what Devcon was charging me for poor service.  I asked if I could see a copy of the contract and he e-mailed a copy to  me immediately for my review.  After I reviewed everything I called the rep. back to go ahead with the monitoring service.  It has been a pleasure dealing with everyone at Safemart, from the Sales, Technical Support to the Administrative Staff.  You are not alone with the transition they are with you from beginning to end and even after.
My experience has been excellent from the first communication to present including the set up of my alarm system. The nicest thing is you are speaking to a real person not a machine and again they try to please you in every way.  I would highly recommend Safemart to my family and friends.  Thank you Safemart!
(Added May 1/11) After buying a new home and quickly realizing that the break-in rate in our upper-middle class subdivision is alarmingly high, I began pursuing home security options. Working for Tyco, owner of ADT, I investigated that route first.  Completely dissapointed.  After that I began searching online, and finding Safemart has been wonderful.  I have ordered from them multiple times (<name omitted> is an awesome salesperson) and have received fast shipping, great customer service, and a sense that they are committed to the protection of my home.  I'll continue to use them and look no further.
(Added May 1/11) First of all I thought it was going to be hard configuring my existing alarm system with SafeMart and boy was I wrong. Everything went smoothly; once I signed up they called me and within minutes I had deleted the old service providers setting and put in SafeMarts. Customer service was very nice and the price was excellent. I would definitely recommed.
P.S. I am in Puerto Rico and was extremely surprised that they would offer there services here. Many companies think we are in mexico or in some other place.
(Added May 1/11) I just switched from Protection One to SafeMart due to cost issues.  Protection One was charging $32/month compared to $9.95/month at SafeMart.  I called Protection One and informed them about my desire to switch and they immediately dropped the monthly price to $18.  I said thanks but no thanks and the saleswoman also informed me that Protection One is the only company to pay your insurance deductible (up to $1,000) if you home is burglarized.  That is a nice benefit.  I spent a few weeks deciding which company I felt most comfortable dealing with.  After several calls to SafeMart I decided to go with them.  I did not buy my system from SafeMart as the house I bought had a hardwired system already installed.  The transition was so easy and the salespeople and techs were very knowledgeable about my system and the necessary steps to complete the transition.  It's only been one week but so far everything is great.
(Added March 22/11) I was going to have ADT install a system in my home and after my wife did a little home work we decided not to go that route. The reviews for ADT are really bad. Their contract was what made use decide to go elsewhere. It basically states that they are not responsible for anything, even in the event of GROSS NEGLIGENCE on their part. So, I decided to purchase the equipment and install everything myself.  I did some homework and found Safe Mart.  The equipment is comparable or better to the equipment used by big name companies and was very easy to install.  The monitoring service is only $20 a month and a one year contract.  The company provides over the phone technical support for as long as you use their eqiupment.  If they can not walk you through a problem concerning the hardware they will replace it!!  No crazy fees just to have a technician replace a battery.  You just get a new one and do it yourself.  So far the system is great.  It's very easy to use and the istructions are really straight forward. The staff is very professional and experts in their field.  I hope this helps other customers make an informed decision.
(Added March 8/11) I decided to try Safemart to replace an old ADT system installed at my newly leased office. I currently have using FrontPoint Security's Alarm.com system at my home for the past 18 months (alarm.com full camera/monitoring package). The primary reason for considering Safemart verses just going with Front Point Security again was  Safemart's lower cost for same alarm.com hardware and lower cost of monthly service @39.99/mo verses FrontPoint @$52.99 for the same exact service. Not to mention the 36 month contract with FrontPoint vs the 12 month contract with Safemart (this new office/warehouse may only be leased for 12 months). FrontPoint's customer service & technical support has been top notch and I expected the same from Safemart. Well, that has certainly not been been my experience to far. I ordered the system which I was told would be delivered via 2 day air in time to install and complete the enrollment/setup over the phone 2 days after delivery. So the system is not delivered in time for the scheduled setup phone appt which they still made not knowing they didnt send the alarm yet. A  week after the original delivery date promised I received the delivery. Ok, I'll live with the delay I guess....But, when the box finally arrives, I find virtually no instructions on how to install the system, only a manual on each part void of direction on how to connect the parts together. AND they forgot to send me the power supply and speaker. I called their CSR who was very apologetic, promised he would send the missing items out 2 day for Sat delivery...which was to arrive in time for my 2nd setup phone call appt and they were to email me a pdf of the missing directions on how to connect the various parts together AND would arrange that a tech support tech was to call me to followup to see if I needed any additional help before the Sat call to set the system up....Well, NO Email, No follow up tech support phone call & NO Sat Delivery of any of the critical missing parts as they had promised. They did make the 2nd scheduled call to setup the system again totally oblivious to the fact I didnt have the power supply and therefore unable to power up the system.

So, now I'm now 2 weeks out from having this system installed...which means I have NO insurance as my carrier requires that I have a fully monitored alarm system activated at all times or they are not responsible to cover me against any theft, or any other claims.

Considering the terrible Customer Service levels and complete lact of technical support at Safemart, i have decided to box up the entire system and send it back to Safemart and just go through FrontPoint who is more expensive but at least I can feel secure as they seem like they know what they are doing and treat their customers properly. Safemart makes promise after promise and has not delivered on one of them. Not the kind of company I can depend on in case of a security breach or fire...the left hand does not know what the right is doing at this place. I recommend going with a better run company you can trust, even if it costs you more in the long run.
(Added Dec 26/10) Great products and superior customer service.  I would recommend them to anyone.  The GE Simon XT is the best system out there and Safemart has it for less than anyone.  Their monitoring is cheaper that just about any company I could find.  If you are a do-it-yourselfer than you will be very satisfied with the value and service that Safemart will give you.
(Added Dec 26/10) I bought a Simon XT from Safemart a couple of months ago. The alarm panel and sensors work well and I like a number of options for environmental monitoring available through the system. But, as the XT was updated recently, the instruction video, instruction manual and even customers service assistants are out of date on how to operate it. They didn't even know which way the sensors needed to be aligned, which was different from the video and manual. Over all, customer and technical assistance has been very poor.  I've spent hours on hold on the phone trying to speak with reps (mostly unsuccessfully) and when I've emailed to open a ticket (a recommended option on the Livewatch website) there often isn't a response (even from the customer support supervisor).  I will say that the system itself works well when you know how to operate it, but I've been left to resolve a number of issues that aren't covered in the manual or otherwise on my own through trial and error.  Most recently, the notifications regarding arming and disarming aren't operating correctly and I've had several initial email conversations with ***** and two others who haven't gotten back to me with a solution for two weeks now. Terrible.
(Added Dec 23/10) We are in the process of finishing our basement and needed to add smoke detectors that match our existing ones.  We have been so pleased with the speediness of shipping (within 36 hours!), and the customer service we received.  We needed a resistor and when we called, they not only sent them out to us immediately, but at no charge.  SafeMart will get only positive reviews from us. We have been telling all of our friends and neighbors that are finishing their basements, SafeMart is the only way to go for their alarm/safety needs.  THANKS SafeMart :)
(Added Apr 21/10) Very impressed!!! Efficient, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable alarm system with monitoring.  Don't be intimidated by the set up process: between the DVD and the manual I was able to do it in 2 hours. Had a couple of questions that were quickly resolved with a simple phone call to Safemart's customer service.
(Added Mar 22/10) (Rebuttal Added Sept 9/10) I'd advise anyone thinking of getting Safemart's LiveWatch monitoring to think otherwise.  I've had 2 GSM units (one was T-mobile, the other AT&T) and neither worked. Even worse, I've had to pay for the return shipping and am being charged for a service that doesn't work!
Employee Rebuttal:
Unfortunately, there is a very small percentage of the population that does not have adequate wireless coverage in their area for GSM service. This usually happens in remote areas of the country. Most people who use mobile phones have experienced these same pockets of low signal strength. This may impact 1 out of every 500 customer locations. However, it is a factor which is out of our control, since it is the nature of T-Mobile or AT&T tower locations. Every alarm company is impacted in the same manner. We regret that this customer was negatively affected by the poor signal strength in his area.  If this happens, the customer is absolutely not responsible for the monthly fees. In these rare cases, we issue a full refund for any service fee which has been paid and do not require any further payments.
(Added Jan 30/10) GE Simon 3 - the software will allow you to set your master code and your access code to the same number but Safemart can not monitor your equipment if it is setup like that. You have to reset your system to default and re-enter all your sensors again!! The manual does not tell you that is a problem and does not explain codes or changing codes in any detail. Panic code is not anywhere in the manual at all!
(Added Dec 29/09) (Updated Mar 24/10) (Rebuttal Added Sept 9/10) Horrible vendor. I was charged for items not shipped and also charged for the wrong items.  I tried calling a dozen times and after speaking with customer service at least a half dozen times I was informed that I would be refunded (I placed a small order to test the vendor before placing the order for a full system). Emails from Safemart had an email address that wouldn't allow a reply so I had to call.
Update:
No change, the review should remain negative.  The company was unresponsive.
Employee Rebuttal:
In response to this review, we are truly sorry and admit our fault.  Once in a very great while, we make a mistake with a customer's order.  In almost every case, we respond in a manner that best suits the customer's needs and desires.  Unfortunately, in this case, that did not happen.  We also work very hard to ensure that this type of customer interaction does not occur in the first place, and we take it very seriously when it does.  We have identified the problems in this case, and have taken steps to ensure that something similar does not happen again in the future.  We hope you accept our humble and sincere apologies.
(Added Sept 18/09) I am in Alarm Heaven. Wish I purchased my alarm system from Safemart like I did my monitoring. Purchased my alarm system from Watchdog security (the price was good but dont care to much for the customer service) I started to shop around for alarm monitoring. I looked at next alarm (looked to them because I wanted ip based monitoring) but they didnt offer 2 way voice. Looked to alarm relay (I thought was gonna be the one because of the cheap price and great reviews off this site) but they didnt offer 2 way voice. finally looked to safemart. Atlast my love has come along!!! great pricing and they offer 2 way voice (the whole reason I decided to purchase the Honeywell Lynx-2 system). The setup was very easy. the customer service was out of this world. Was help by Steve (and yes I could request him by name everytime) They even helped me program a sensor that I did not purchase from them. The response time has to be the best I have even encountered (I have had brinks, securitylink from ameritech, and adt in the past) I mean under 30 seconds ( I have no dial out delay programmed). I really love them and would refer them to anyone.
(Added Aug 24/09) I had used another security company for years and was unhappy with them over a billing issue. I went with Safemart because they sell an alarm system that is compatible with the one I have and the great price. The setup was really easy and I was able to reprogram my system with just a few instructions from them via e-mail. The price is great, the customer service is great, and they're UL listed. Why was I paying $30+ per month before?
(Added June 19/09) I purchased a quite complex alarm system and installed it myself.  I had a few questions pop up and e-mailed SafeMart and they always responded promptly with helpful information.  Their prices are pretty darn good and they were willing to price match the few items I found cheaper on a different website.  I just got my monitoring turned on and that was pretty quick and painless.  The guy I spoke with on the phone knew exactly what I needed to do even through I had kind of an odd setup.  I'd highly recommend them!
(Added May 26/09) I have had the BEST experience with Ocusafe.  They are very helpful when I called to set up; they even answered all my annoying questions! They have no long term agreement, and their contract is IN ENGLISH with NO hard to understand language.  They do not have any auto renew clauses or deceptive ways to keep getting your money.  I simply signed and faxed the agreement with my contact information.  They then told me what I had to program into my system, which was very easy. I tested everything, and then my account was online!! So in about 12 hours, I was completely monitored.  Their response time is VERY fast. I had 3 false alarms where they  called in about 30 seconds. Their prices are also VERY affordable. I  pay $9 per month, or $108 for a full 14 months of monitoring. (They offer 2 free months if you prepay for a whole year).  They use Criticom monitoring, which is the SAME company Protect America uses for their customers. PA customers have the EXACT same central stations as I do; the only difference is the price!  I am overall very pleased with their service. I am so happy I found  them before signing a contract with Protect America.  I would recommend Ocusafe to ANYONE looking for really good, affordable security.
(Added May 27/08) I've been a customer of SafeMart for many years.  I started my Ademco Security System with the purchase of the 20P Control panel and various window/door sensors. Since this was a new area for me, I solicited advice from SafeMart Sales and their technical staff.  With their help, my system program was downloaded and my system was up and running with no problems.  I purchased my monitoring service (Ocusafe) through SafeMart.  Their service has been excellent!  I highly recommend SafeMart for you security and electronic equipment needs.
(Added < April/08) I cannot say enough about the customer service provided by SafeMart, to enable my home alarm for monitoring. They went above and beyond to rigorously test, and ensure my system was setup properly & my signals were operating properly. Excellent price and customer service, which is exactly what I hoped for.  Thank you, Travis
(Added < April/08) Several years ago, I purchased my first home.  I knew it was a good idea to have some form of security, but was entirely an amateur when it came to knowing what I needed and how to go about installing it.  I found SafeMart and contacted them.  They were very helpful and were able to answer all of my questions.  After they helped me decide which system was best for my needs, I tried installing it on my own, without SafeMart's technical assistance.  Having never done so before, I quickly grew frustrated.  However, after a quick round of calls to the customer service reps at SafeMart, they led me through the installation, which previously seemed so daunting.  In an age where good customer service is becoming increasingly hard to find, it was a breath of fresh air to deal with the representatives and technicians at SafeMart, who have a profound knowledge of the products they sell and are genuinely helpful.  On any of the follow-up calls I've had to make since being a SafeMart customer, this has always been the case.
