(Added Mar 15/10) To make a long 3 year story extremely short, this has been the worst $2000 I have ever spent. This company monitors about half the time, has the worst customer service ever, and fails to uphold promises they make to you. We're actually having a party June 7th, 2010 when our contract will be up. What can I say? Live and learn. Moral of the story is: never purchase anything from a 19 year old door-to-door salesman.

(Added Jan 21/10) Platinum Protection did the same as posted by PA. resident to me-in addition-they lost my contract- found contract 5 months later and started to bill me even though they were not monitoring my home. I had a couple of incidents with my father setting off the alarm when I was not home and also my boyfriend, both times it went long enough to require a call from Platinum- none was received by them because they were not monitoring since they had no contract. I installed with ADT and then 3 months later Platinum takes almost $200 in charges. They found the contract and my bank account info and decided they could just take the money out. I am in the process of having to legally clear this up. Do not go with PLATINUM PROTECTION!!! Very sleazy practices. I have their system all boxed up for pick up. Which was not as inclusive as ADT. (Added Jan 21/10) I was searching for a quality home security system when I found Platinum Protection. I placed a call to the Platinum Protection headquarters to find out information on a security system that did not require a home phone line. The associate was very friendly and super informitave. He was very thourough with explaining the equipment, service options, warranties, etc. Platinum Protection set me up with a system that I can control through my cell phone! The technician arrived right on time the next day and carefully installed the brand new GE Security system. The Tech did a great job training me how to use my security system. I now have peace of mind when I leave my home, thanks to Platinum Protection.

(Added Jan 20/10) We got our alarm system from Platinum in the fall and so far we have been very happy. We knew we were going to have a 5yr contract and figured we would have the same with any other company. Installation was a breeze and all of our equipment is working great. I am immediately notified by email if the alarm goes off and is turned off. I can also set the alarm or check the status on my phone. It is definitely worth it.

(Added Jan 9/10) Me and my family were out of town over the Christmas holiday when our home security alarm went off. Platinum Portection immediately notifed me and my local police of the incident. The police were on sight within minutes. My Father, who lives nearby, was notified by Platinum and was there in moments also. The police stated that the loud sounding alarm must have scared the burglar away because nothing was taken. Platinum Protection did their job at keeping my home and family safe. Thank you Platinum.

(Added Dec 29/09) I'm sure there have been people on here that have had negative experiences with door-to-door salesmen. I'm not posting to address the concerns of a "Bad Seed" or a poor tactic sales approach. I do know a few things about the industry and Platinum: 1) I have a great system that works well and provides peace of mind for my family. 2) I know the sales guy that sold me my system didn't say anything that would misrepresent the contract terms. 3) No company can control what at bone head 19 year old full commission sales person says. 4) If you don't want to be sold something don't answer the door and don't sign a contract. Platinum has meet my level of expectation, they installed a system and I'm getting monitoring. Nothing more or less, I'm getting a great product and better peace of mind.

I really enjoy speaking with any representatives from Platinum and know that if I ever do have a problem they will quickly solve it for me. I love what this company is doing. (Added Dec 12/09) I chose Platinum because I had a few friends that worked with Platinum, and I also have a few neighbors that have alarms from Platinum Protection. Everything I heard about Platinum was positive and so I decided to use them and have been pleased. Platinum Interactive is one of the coolest features I have ever seen and I show off to all of my friends how I can basically control my entire house from my Blackberry. I am hoping they will make a Android App soon since I will be moving over to a Google phone in the next few months. I would recommend Platinum Protection to anyone that is looking for a home security system. The customer service is great and if I have any problems they usually respond pretty quick. I did have one problem with a window sensor not working and called them and they sent someone out within 2 days. Great company and am happy with my purchase.

(Added Nov 2/09) I have had my Platinum Protection Security System since 2007. My husband and I have been very impressed with the quality of the system, as well as the excellent customer service provided by Platinum Protection. We have referred Platinum to all of our friends and family and would recommend Platinum's services to anyone. I can't thank Platinum enough for the piece of mind that we have every time we have to leave our home to run errands or go to work, knowing that our home is secure. We feel that the pricing is also very reasonable and love having the Platinum Protection sign in our front yard.

(Added Oct 24/09) (Updated Jan 22/10) I am being forced to pay for a system that I will never use. The sensor fell off the back door and keeps setting off the alarm. I refuse to get the necessary permit from the Police Department and Fire Department. I was unaware that this was a requirement, until after the installation hole was cut in the wall. The salesperson informed me to watch the same Grandchildren that would be "protected" by this system from inadvertently setting off the alarm, as this would result in bills from the Police Department or Fire Department. BUYER BEWARE - It is not a 36 month contract it is a 60 month contract. One month is too long to pay for something you won't use. Five years is ridiculous. I hope the money I am paying is being put to good use. It is not going to my "unprotected" Grandchildren.
Update:
I am no longer under contract with this alarm company. I was able to buy out my contract for $650.00 additional dollars. The phone calls have stopped. The alarm is not sounding off. So all is not lost. I made a
ridiculously costly mistake. Live and learn.

(Added Oct 24/09) Their customer service is the worst I have ever known. Their system is terrible. My whole system has been shut down the past week for equipment failure and they won't do anything to help me. The salesman was very pushy and told me a bunch of lies about the company. (Now I know the truth) Whenever I call customer service all they say is read your contract.

(Added Oct 15/09) Platinum Protection was recently in my neighborhood and they were very courteous and were also surprisingly licensed for our state and town. The man that came to my door was very polite and didn't try to force me to do anything. Because of this, I decided to go with Platinum Protection for my home security and I am 100% satisfied with their company. They are always nice at customer service if I ever have to call in. I would definitely recommend Platinum if you guys ever look into getting an alarm system.

(Added Aug 18/09) Stay away from this one. They come late at night, lots of high pressure and very little is true. I got mine removed by cancelling the very next day. But they did a lot of damage to my walls and doors, which they found very funny when I asked if they were going to repair when they removed the equipment. In the worst case they drilled a 3/4 inch hole at a 45 deg angle in my living room paneling to run a 1/16 inch wire to an outlet. I am still trying to find a way to make it look half way decent. They told me to hang a pictue over the holes. Customer service assured me they would attempt to repair damage. That was just one more of many lies. How could I trust them with my home security? After the install it took about an hour to clean the house and carpet (grease) after they left at 11:30 PM.

(Added Aug 13/09) I found this website after I had the system installed. I strongly recommend Platinum Protection. I got the system the same way that everyone else has...a young sales person came knocking on the door wanting to put a sign in my yard. I was comfortable with GE- so I knew the equipment would work (anyone who complains and says GE is a bad company better think about the last flight they took- thanks to GE the planes engines got the aircraft off the ground) But the idea seemed interesting to me. Put a sign up and get a system. Of course everyone pays the monitoring, no big deal. But I love the alarm. It works. I haven't had to "use" the alarm, but I have purposefully set it off myself, and the monitoring company calls right away. I'm blown away by some of the reviews and the ignorance of some people. I strongly recommend Platinum Protection.

(Added July 21/09) We live in St. Louis MO and about eleven months ago a less than scrupulous sales person sold my wife (who suffers from multiple sclerosis) a home security system while I was at work. My wife has trouble with cognitive skills and lapse of memory. She 'understood' that we had a thirty day trial instead of three also that it was a one year contract instead of five. Now I'm on the hook for four more years for a useless system (unless we take a trip). On July 15, 2009 the system whacked out. Two days later I was charged $30.00 so I could shut it up; along with the "all hours" phone calls from the monitoring company. The tech said: "We should pick a code that is easy for my wife to remember so we could use it all the time"...think...wife has lapses of memory, husband at work or sleeping...duh? The only resolution to this problem that I can see is when the contract runs out and I'm no longer wasting money.

(Added July 16/09) Installed and I CANCELLED the next day. WAY overpriced. Reseach revealed you can get the same equipment, and same service a lot cheaper elsewhere.(YES... they don't charge for the equipment... but at the price you are being over charged for their service... you are paying for the equipment several times over.) Also.... their contract length is 5 years!!!! That's about $3,000 for five years of service. WAY OVER PRICED!!!! Beware... you only have 3 days to cancel.

(Added July 7/09) I'm very happy with the coverage that Platinum Provides. After reading several reviews on this company, I'd have to say that most bad reviews include false statements. For one: My home is covered very well, I feel very secure. and two: My monitoring is a different price from others that I have read about. There is no "minimum", it just depends on your home and where you live. and three: show me an alarm company that doesn't ask you to sign an agreement? All I'm trying to get at here is the fact that they work just like any other company does, I am very happy with my coverage and my system.The best part is, I didn't have to pay for it. Thats a nice plus! I would gladly recommend this company to any of my friends.

(Added July 7/09) I TOTALLY agree with the guy who calls himself 'taken advantage of' in bethleham, pa. What a scam and then once the three days is up, you have to pay some crazy amount for service. They send some 12 yr old wearing a tool belt out to your house who plays around with the keypad to make it seem like the system works before he leaves and then when you try to leave and set the alarm...guess what. We have been trying to get out of our contract that we have had for two yrs. The system has not worked since day one and we can't get rid of it....it is like a bad infection that WILL NOT go away. I feel sorry for the dude that just got the system last night (unless that was a Platinum employee who they made to add a comment), because he is in for a big surprise. Check out that video on youtube, they have some what I believe to be actors talking about how great Platinum is...they were either paid, drugged or current/present employees and family members of Platinum employees.

I feel more confident knowing that our families safety was there top priority and that they didn't want one night to pass with out our home being protected! I love you guys!

(Added Mar 12/09) I love my alarm system, we now have peace in mind when we go for the week. The sales rep was very friendly, honest and helpful. The techs were very good, and they did a wonder on the install. The new G.E. system is the best by far, this system rocks, very easy to use. I have now recommended several of my family members to the company. Oh yeah I would have bought one along time ago, however ADT never notified me that I was able to have one without a phone line, Platinum place a cellular chip on my system for FREE.

(Added Mar 9/09) I was impressed with the quickness and thoroughness of the installation. That and that fact that they were here installing the system at 9:00 p.m. on the day I signed up. People in this country don't do that kind of thing!

(Added Mar 6/09) (Updated May 27/09) I just wanted to write to everyone out there who is looking for an alarm system for their home that PLATINUM is the way to go! I was approached by a REALLY courteous young man at my home and he told me about the security system for my house- he told me the system would be "free" and all I would have to pay is the monitering fee of 42.99 a month and an activation fee of 99$. Everything panned out and I am SO happy I went with Platinum Protection. The technician was as nice as can be and also cleaned up after himself and everything. Made my DAY!

(Added Jan 27/09) After a traumatic installation by Platinum Protection, that started with a high powered sales pitch, a hurried installation that lasted until midnight, a defective system that wasn't working properly for months, I finally got a system that worked. This month, Platinum Protection sold my contract to another company that I did not choose. I was shocked when I got the notice from my "new" security company, ASG. I had just finished paying all the "additional" charges and had received my first normal bill on a 5-year contract. I am sorry I ever ended my ADT service. ASG may be fine but I never heard of them. I'm not sure what I will do next. I feel I was used and abused by Platinum.

(Added Jan 12/09) I have been a Platinum security system owner since 2007 and have loved my system and my service. I'm sorry that some of you arent as comfortable with buying from somebody on your door step as I was, and sure I felt a little leary at first, but they have a great product and wonderful service as there Better Business Rating shows. As I'm sure other people have noticed too the only people to have "real" complaints against Platinum are people that aren't exactly the most educated. And maybe for those that actually had a bad experience, well, a company gets big enough and you're going to piss somebody off eventually. Platinum gets an A+ in my book.

Platinum has been a reliable, supportive and easy to work with company. I have had a security system for many years and the system they put into my house supercedes anything I could have got anywhere else. (Added Dec 2/08) On November 4, 2007, my home was broken into. The burglars entered through the back bedroom window. I didn't have alarms on the windows but I do have a motion detector. When the burglars walked out of the bedroom, they triggered the motion detector causing a silent alarm. Thanks to Platinum Protection, the police were called and responded to my home. The intruders were caught trying to come back out of the window. If it had not been for your company, the loss to my home may have been great! Thank you Platinum Protection for your superb reaction. I would recommend your services to any and all looking for quality home protection.

(Added Sept 14/08) I have had PP for almost 18 months. The first event occurred 3 months into my contract. I was broken into and the police were not notified until after the burglars were making their third trip to their car with my possessions. In the most recent event, I came home to my alarm beeping, door being kicked in and no police. They claim I did not set my alarm. The system seems to work fine; their monitoring company does not. I will be going back to ADT at first opportunity. I was a fool to leave them.
