(Added Dec 16/11) A rep for this company came to the door and made it seem like he was just upgrading my equipment thru ADT which was the company that I already had monitoring my home. He even said that I would only be adding an extra 20 bucks to my bill to have cellular service because the phone lines were being cut in my neighborhood. Well he was actually switching companies and didnt make it clear to me. He had someone come over and install the equipment and within an hour that same day. Well he came back the next day and told me I needed to cancel with ADT! I was so upset when he told me that, and he told me that they wouldnt charge me, and of course I call ADT and they said it would be $477 to cancel my account. SO he said hes going to see if his supervisor will approve them to pay that for me..that of course DIDNT happen. So I cancel with them because it has only been 2 days. He tells me they cant hook my old keypad back up and they say no. He tells me that my old company wont charge me to come out and reinstall it, so I called them and its $150 for the first 30 minutes for them to come out and reinstall the old keypad. I called to complain to platinum protection and they say theyre covered because of some survey that explains how we need to check with any other company before they install, which of course the tech NEVER ever advised me of. So Im going to have to pay just to have the keypad put back on..I really hate this company right about now. |

(Added Nov 16/11) This company is nothing but a scam! The salesman told us that we could cancel at anytime. We are not satisfied with the company and I called to cancel the services and the lady tells me that we can not cancel without paying 80% of the remaining fees (which is about $1,560.00) or transferring our system and payment to someone else. I told her that we were never explained all of that and I told her that the sales rep said we could cancel at anytime. She said they are not responsible for what their sales reps say, they just go by he signed contract! What kind of company is not liable for the lies that their employees tell??? I submitted a complaint to the BBB and the consumer rights. Something has got to be done about his company it is nothing but a scam! |

(Added Sep 23/11) My husband fell for it while I was at work. Slick sales comes to the door telling my idiot husband everything is free! We asked him what happens if we come into financial hardship and can't afford this? Burke from Utah Sales Manager gives us his cell number and tells us to give him a call and he will personally cancel this for us. My husband broke his arm 4 weeks later so we call Burke. Burke doesn't answer his phone anymore. We call the customer service number and they pretend to be helpful and will try to contact Burke for us. Few more calls after and Burke no longer works for the company. We called again and they threaten to turn us over to collections if we cancel our checking account that is set up for auto payment. I would rather pay for a lawyer or get bad credit then pay scammers!!!! |

(Added Sep 23/11) I had a sales men come to my door to sale me a Platinum Protection Alarm service. It all sounded good but it was not. My home was not protected. Someone came in to my home took things. I got a call from the alarm co. to let me know what is going on and should they call the police and I told them yes. I as 30 to 40 min away from home and I beat the police to my home and I was not happy about that. When I said something to the police they said that my home was not reg.with police dept for 50.00 that is why it took them so long to get there. From there things has just gone down hill from there, When you call customer service they just give you the run around and say you are under contact and there not a thing that they can do and that is fare as we can go to get things done. We will see if this is fare as I can go!!!!!! |

(Added Sep 1/11) I had a door to door salesman approach me in July 2011. I had been with ADT for almost 20 yrs and they had never offered to update my system. I did have to have my fire alarm replaced by ADT about 3 yrs ago which cost me almost $200.,so when this very well spoken sales person for Platinum told me they could update my system for free, it seemed like a win/win for us. My alarm is now wireless, so if a burglar cuts my phone line, my alarm system will still work, also we were given "remote" fobs for our key chains, and they wired the remaining windows that were not previously covered. Once you register on line, you can turn your alarm on and off on the internet.In Ok. you are required to have an alarm permit and they even typed out the form changing all my alarm and contact information. The billing was exactly as they said it would be, the installer came exactly when they said he would, and I am very happy with the switch. |

(Added Aug 15/11) We have been customers of Platnum for three years now. The monitering and initial customer service was very good. However when I tryed to upgrade the system they advised me that my bill was done by a different company and I could not purchase anything through Platnum, and upgrade or service would have to go through this other company. I heve not been able to get them to help me with anything! I want to spend more money with then, yet the customer service is dredful. As soon as the five year contract is up we are moving on. And yes, I have spent a great deal of time trying to get out of the contract. |

(Added Aug 15/11) I was frustrated with ADT, a system we had without many problems, but without very good customer service when we had a solicitor at our door from Platinum Protection/GE (we would later learn that they really had no connection to GE, but this was merely a co-branding that gives them more credibility). As a sales professional, I could see through their script and their ruse to give "free equipment" to us so they could sell the service in the neighborhood. Though some may find this approach inappropriate, what mattered to me was the service, which was great, installation was fast, and the wireless monitoring of fire, flood, doors, windows and power were exactly what I was looking for...and for a monthly amount of $49 that we think is appropriate for the service provided. OH, and the web app for iPhones is way ahead of anything that ADT ever offered. State of the art service that finally makes us feel actually secure, despite the fact that this service is smaller and newer to the market. |

(Added Aug 14/11) A year ago I signed up for a security system with platinum protection. I was a renter and they said I needed to be the homeowner they told me it was o.k. to sign as the landlord without checking with them. I moved from my rental 6 months ago and am still paying for an alarm in which I don't have access to. I have called them many times to have the name on the account switched but they said I would need to pay a $199 transfer fee and have the other person apply and run their credit. Everytime I have talked with them, their "customer service" was VERY rude and even sighed several times at my requests. Nice customer service, I thought people would be happy to still have a job and want to keep it by giving good customer service. I was also told my contract was 3 years, today they told me it was 5 years. I have been told so many dfferent things by this company. So I am paying for an alarm at a place I do not live in. Poor business etiquette. BEWARE OF PLATINUM PROTECTION!!!!!!!! |
| (Added Aug 14/11) We as well were approached at our home by a door to door sales person. He said our home sat at a good location for car and foot traffic so they wanted to use us as a show home. All we had to do was put their sign in our front yard, that easy. Everything was going to be free, we paid $42.99 a month for one year and then we could do as we wish from there. So we call after one year to cancel the contract and they tell us it is for two years. So we call after two years to cancel the contract and now they tell us it is for five years. This is such a scam and fraud if you ask me. I checked the BBB in Maryland and they have 492 complaints against them. What a shame, we can't get out of this contract and they do not stand by their word at all. Don't use this company ever. |

Which is how they get your attention. (Added July 4/11) Why we will cancel our contract: Few people have heard of this company so a burglar may think that the sign is bogus anyway. Their sales and installation teams travel around the country, which is one reason they push for same day install. Also they know it is less likely you'll change your mind once it is installed and you have holes in your walls, etc. They maintain no local offices. We also feel that their business practices are less than honest. We were told they would only install 3 systems for free in our neighborhood for advertising purposes and only if you consider yourself a "vocal" person, likely to tell your neighbors. Of course they only had one left! Again this is to urge you to buy now without thinking about it or researching the company! I'm sure they were selling as many as they could, the same way ADT or any other company does. They have their sales team wear lanyards from local sports team to give the impression that they are "locals" and our sales person even claimed to live locally but her facebook page indicated otherwise. And there are no guarantees that if you don't like the system you can cancel. You'll be locked into the contract for up to 5 years. It might have worked out fine, but I think there are better and safer deals out there. If you feel you are being rushed in any way, buyer beware. |

(Added July 4/11) We have been with this company for two years now and love it. My husband is unemployed too and so we had to cut something else out of our budget to make this happen. We love our system and I feel so much better having it in our home. If you have ever been robbed or know someone they will tell the hassle and cost involved with replacing your items. Some can never be replaced. Not to mention your sense of security. The salesperson was great when he came to our house and we even invited him back for our 4th of July BBQ. As far as the contract goes, people we sign contracts everyday. And the salesperson told us up front it was a 3 year contract and for the record our rates have not gone up. Thank you guys for making this such an easy transition. |

(Added July 4/11) A salesman from a company representing GE Security Services came to our door offering us over $1000 worth of free security equipment and free installation. This guy didn't have a company van nor any business cards but he insisted on getting a check up front before installation could occur for this fabulous offer. I called GE Services and they didn't have any salesman in the area and have never done business with Platinum Protect. I researched the company this salesman claimed to work for located in Lenexa, Kansas and found out the company used to be called Metronics. Checked out the BBB website found 700+ complaints. Actually the Kansas Attorney General's Office has filed a lawsuit against Platinum Protect for its deceptive practices. |

(Added July 4/11) I just had a door to door guy come by and give us the whole "Prefered Marketing Property" pitch. They got us at $49.99 a month and I am not sure how long I am wanting to keep it around at that price. But I do have to say the product, sales people and installation guys were all top notch. I felt good about everything. I only woke up the next day wondering if I really need a remote alarm system for $600 a year? |

If we don't pay, they have threatened to send us to a collections agency. We missed one payment and their collections people called us. I called customer service to explain the situation and they actually told my husband to shut up when he tried to explain. I hate this company and do not wish this scam company on anyone. |

(Added June 4/11) We just purchased a Platinum Alarm System. We have been very delighted. The salesman was extremely professional, seasoned and kind. He scheduled the installation around our schedule and made sure our questions were answered. He assured us that no question was a dumb question. For under $50. a month, we have the security that we need for this world we live in today. The price has never waivered and everything is exactly as the salesman said it would be. If you're contemplating the cost, think of forgoing lunch a couple of times a month. When our system isn't activated and we are home, the system talks to us when a door is opened. We love this feature. The installer was very knowledgeable as well and took a lot of time explaining and pointing things out. He was thorough and cleaned up his mess. (we were just ready to send this, and Platinum called on the phone to see how things were. Wow! Customer service= A+) Just do it like we did...you won't regret it! |

(Added June 4/11) I had a door to door sales man sell me a alarm system today. they where very professional and the guy came and installed it 45 min later. its only $49 a month but its a 3 year contract. i got them to throw in extra remotes and extra door sensors. i now feel better with my wife home alone. i feel bad for all the bad reviews. this system is top notch. cell phone technology and everything else is wireless. the only catch is the 3 year contract of 49 a month for service. which is less than most major systems. |

| (Added May 4/11) SECURITY FROM HELL!!!! My first impression of the salesman was very poor. He very literally pushed his way through my front door to to find the previous alarm system. This should have been a red flag. He said he'd give us time to think about it while he made continued around the street. He came back and apologized for pushing his way in. I gave him a second chance to talk to us. I don't remember whether it was my neighbor or my wife that talked me into it against my gut feeling but I've felt sick about it ever since. We only get false alarms. The whole system gives my kid nightmares. They told us they cancelled the service since it was causing more harm than good. Today I received a collections call because we didn't make last months payments. We do not feel safe with them at all. |

(Added March 22/11) This company is awesome. The door to door guy that came to my home informed me about the possible risk of having a security system that ran through my land line. He was 100% correct and upgraded me to a cell chip system. I feel much safer now and since I have swithced over there customer service was very good and everything I was told was clearly written on the agreement he had me sign. I find it hard to believe that someone signed an agreement and did not know it was a contract. It says right on the top of the page in big letters "Alarm Monitoring Agreement". They are a great company and I would recomend them to everyone. |

(Added March 21/11) Dreadful customer service. They misrepresented and have been adversarial when we tried to undo the transaction. Very slick door to door salesman. We understood one monthly fee and after reviewing the debit from our bank account found the number to be higher. We tried to immediately unwind the transaction and have met with consistently adversarial customer service reps. I would recommend that no one do business with this company. They do not treat their clients in a professional manner and do not attempt to problem solve. We shall never refer their services to anyone that we know. Horrid experience on all levels. |

(Added March 18/11) So far so good! I've loved the peace of mind I get from my system. I leave on business trips regularly and I feel much better knowing my wife and children are safer. Being able to control the alarm from my droid is very convenient too. Ive had my alarm go off a couple of times now and platinum protection called me promptly to see if everything was ok. I bought some upgrades a year after having the system and platinum protections technician installed them and took plenty of time to show me how to use the features applicable to me. Also the ability to receive a text or an email from platinum if the alarm is turned on or off let's me know if my wife and children got home ok. I can positively recommend this to anyone. |

Initially when a sales rep knocked on my door I didn't think that I wanted one, but after talking for only a few moments I saw how it was a benefit to myself and my family. I use it every day, it has always worked the way it is suppose to, and I feel more comfortable in my own home knowing it could help to save our lives. This year a rep came by when going through our neighborhood again and stopped to check on us to make sure we were still happy with it. I ended up upgrading to newer equipment. I couldnt be happier. I would recommend this company to everyone! |

(Added March 8/11) I have read a bunch of the reviews on this page, and don't understand how some are so negative and others are so positive. I understand that I purchased my alarm from a door to door salesman, but I don't think that is such a bad thing. The customer service has been great, exactly what was promised to me. I system was installed in a timely manner and they did a great job instructing me how to use the system. It was something my wife and I have been looking into with the problems that we have been seeing in our neighborhood lately. I feel much more comfortable knowing that I have a good, working system in my home. I have accidentally set it off as I was getting use to it and I receive calls from the monitoring company immediately. I'm glad that they are so prompt and take care of the emergencies in less than a minute. It is impressive! I would and HAVE recommended Platinum to all my family. |

(Added Feb 11/11) Platinum Protect sales folks told me I was guaranteed my rate for 60 months. I have lost my job and want to cancel my service and the customer service folks tell me I am locked into a contract for 48 more months and cannot break the contract without paying 80% of the remaining fees. I was never told I had a 60 month contract, I was told I had a 60 month guaranteed rate. The billing person told me they would refer me to a collection agency if I stop paying my monthly fee. I need to discontinue doing business with this company. |

(Added Jan 26/11) Signing up with Platinum was by far one of the best experiences I've had with anyone approaching my door. The install was quick, they left no mess, and the equipment is really awesome. I got a phone call this morning confirming my alarm system and if I was happy with everything! Awesome! I did have to make a few phone calls to customer support to figure out how the system works, but they were very patient and helpful. Now, I think I have my alarm system down, all thanks to platinum protection! |

The people on my call list are sick of getting called. After 3 attempts to fix it, the system is useless and I am stuck paying a monthly bill for something that doesnt work. I do not see how this company will stay in business. |

(Added Dec 26/10) Unbeknown to me, my wife purchased the system while I was at work. I came home and after having read about this company and their horrible customer service on the internet, we decided to cancel (you only have three business days!!!). That's where the nightmare began. Their customer service wouldnt let me cancel and kept trying to talk me out of cancelling. I asked for the main boss (they said he was named Bryan) but they told me he doesn't take calls and is never there. I asked for him anyway and was hung up on. I have never had such a poor customer service experience in my life. We faxed our notice of cancellation in to them many times before they finally admitted that they had the paperwork they needed for us to cancel their service. Two weeks later, their technician showed up to take the system out of our house and left holes all over our walls. We complained of course but the technicain told us to call their customer service to complain. Again, we called their customer service and instead of compassion, were told that we were stupid for thinking they would fix our walls! The representative then laughed at me and told me good luck then asked if he could guess my age for fun because he was bored! We are outraged and do not recommend this company to anyone! We have notified our homeowners association and added this company to a list of solicitors that are not welcome in our neighborhood! |

(Added Dec 12/10) I have had Platinum for about six months and the alarm and service is exactly what they had agreed to. I had ADT for almost ten years, and had absolutely no problem with the service or the system, except the back-up battery needed to be replaced which I did myself. Yesterday I received an e-mail saying that I had a power failure on my panel. I checked with my history and found that my wife had disarmed it and 5 minutes later it failed. She tried to rearm it with no avail. I called Platinum and they said the would send a tech out....the following Tuesday....it was Thursday. I complained that why would I need an alarm if I could for almost a week without it to no avail. I e-mailed them from the website and told them it was unacceptable and wanted to know the section of my contract which deals with maintenance and repair and what it said with repsect to punctuality. Friday evening and no response yet. Funny for installation they were there the day I signed the contract....will give a results message when my I am finished..... |

(Added Nov 24/10) We also feel we were taken advantage of. We are senior citizens and should never have let the salesman in the door! He promised that everything was FREE! We kept asking if there were any charges and he kept saying "No". He said that the company was offering this to a few people in the neighborhoor for advertising purposes. He said that see their sign in our yard, made it easier to sell the system to our neighbors. I had to leave to go to work so was not there for the entire presentation. My husband apparently signed a monitoring agreement for $50 per month. Why would we sign that when we already had ADT at $35 per month. I did not know about the agreement my husband signed until we got calls about missing a payment. I tried to cancel, but they insisted that we would need to pay the entire 60 months before I could do so. I would caution anyone to avoid this company. We are left with a system we do not use! |

(Added Nov 16/10) A salesperson came to my door and said he was an employee of General Electric, and showed me a General Electric logo on his golf shirt. He said they had new equipment and were looking for a couple of demonstration sites in the neighborhood. He told me there would be a small monthly charge. That "small monthly charge" was $44.99 and came with a contract for five years which requires you to cancel within a fixed time around your renewal date or have your contract extended. Don't deal with these people! They are dishonest. I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint about them. Meanwhile, I am stuck with a 5 year contract that I don't want. |

(Added Oct 30/10) We have had our Platinum Alarm for over 3 years now. It has been a great peace of mind for me and the family. For all the people that complain on this web site I find it hard to believe. The sales rep explained things well and when you are done with the paper work they do a phone call to make sure things are correct and that you understand everything. The sad thing is that some people make decisions and then when they decide they don't want the product they blame the company. I would say think things out before hand and read the contract. The system has been great and we have not needed much support but the support has been good as well. |

(Added Oct 29/10) Our salesperson was very professional and courteous. She walked use through and explained everything very well and said that a tech would be here tonight to install. Initially I agreed and was excited that it was going to be installed now. Then I thought, I have two young kids, what kind of security company comes into a home late in the evening. I did some research and decided to cancel after reading reviews and the BBB website. They are a low C and I don't feel comfortable doing business with a below average company. I called the rep and the home office the same night to tell them that I was cancelling. The rep did not answer(it was late) and customer service was very nice. All I have to do is fax the cancellation agreement to them and "it will all be taken care of". I hope it all goes well. I will give them the benifit of the doubt, so if I don't have any problems, I will not add anything else. I really have nothing bad to say about the company. I just didn't feel good about the whole thing. |

I really enjoy the peace of mind that we now have, I've already recommended many of my friends. (Added Sept 26/10) Platinum Protection is nothing more than a scam. These guys promised us we could try the system for 6 months and then cancel the agreement. We understood that if we liked the agreement, we could keep the system for up to 60 months. I called their customer service who told me they couldn't cancel our agreement and that the sales rep lied to us. In fact their customer service department had me on hold for over 25 minutes and when the representative came back I had to explain all over again that I wanted to cancel. I think the guy seriously took a nap that whole time. When I complained about the wait time he told me that he hated his job and that he was planning on quitting soon. I asked for a supervisor and he said that his supervisor was in his bosses office most of the day and good luck ever talking to him. If this company comes to your neighborhood run because they are dishonest and crooked and their service is the worst I've ever seen. |

It was convenient for us because the system didn't require a home phone line (we only use cell phones). Price is reasonable and customer service is responsive (we accidentally set ours off and they called immediately). |

I love the key fobs and the IPhone app. The cost of monitoring is more affordable than ADT for cellular. $49 a month is well worth the peace of mind. |

(Added Aug 17/10) I have a Platinum system in my home from earlier this year. Sales guy was very polite and explained things very well to us. They would pay for all the equipment and installation. I would be responsible for monitoring. It's very simple. I don't know where the negative reviews come from. I am very pleased with my system. It is much nicer than my previous system from adt. I can control it from my iPhone and I don't even need a home phone set up for it to work. I would recommend Platinum Protection to anyone. |

What a joke some of you are. Look on your paper work, how many years is your contract for, how much is the monthly rate? Its all on the paper work and on top of that they do a phone survey where you clearly agree to the terms given. Were you drunk when you open the door? There is nothing wrong with this awesome company at all and i love them. I have a cell unit system and i got it for free and the monthly rate is right about what all others are charging. Stop being a bunch of babys. We all need this on our homes these days anyway. Thank you for knocking Platinum. |

(Added Aug 7/10) In late July I was approached by a young lady selling Platinum Security contracts. After a long conversation she was explaining the contract and stated that although the contract stated 49.99 monthly she would lock in my premium at 40.00 for 5 years and repeated this same statement several times, which I agreed to. When I checked the withdrawal from my account it was 49.99. I called the customer service I was told that I had agreed to 49.99. It was totally my fault for accepting the word of a salesperson to be honest. Lesson learned. When I called ****** she tried to tell me she meant the premium would be offset by the reduction in my home insurance. Buyer Beware. My next phone call is to the BBB. |

(Added June 24/10) This company sells alarm systems door to door. They make it seem like they're part of GE. They aren't. The rep will lie to you and tell you you're signing up for a 3 yr contract but it's really a 5 yr contract. They don't have business cards and won't give you any contact information. The rep just says they have a home office. The equipment is sloppily installed. They will tell you that you'll have door and window sensors yet they don't install anything on them. There's no light or anything else on the hall sensor so you don't know if it's on or not. I read reviews that say the equipment doesn't work due to being installed incorrectly. A person who had written a review had an emergency and pressed the police button and the police never came. Platinum Protection never followed up with him so he called them and they said they don't send police only "security". No security person talked to the homeowner. This is a scam and ripoff. Their BBB rating is C- and dropping fast. |

(Added June 12/10) (Updated Sept 10/10) A kind of a mixed bag here. The sales guy from Platinum Protection met me at my home as I returned from work. I had been considering some form of security for some time, so I listened to his pitch. I quickly recognized that he was selling a system subsidized by the recurring monitoring fee. He did nothing to misrepresent anything in the purchase agreement, made sure that I understood all of the details, and then called in his technician. The technician did a beautiful job with the installation, and the system is a high-quality system that seems to work exactly as advertised. That said, I am still canceling the agreement, not because of any problem with Platinum or with the system, but because I decided I don't want to have a system at all. If you need a system, Platinum appears to have a simple but effective system which offers good functional quality at a very low up-front cost (though the monthly fee makes up for it) and very simple installation. Update: No updates from me; my story has ended... I proceeded to uninstall the hardware myself, faxed in my cancellation form, the technician dropped by as scheduled to pick up the box of equipment, sign off on the cancellation, and that was that. No problem, no hassle. |

(Added June 11/10) I am personally a little leery of anyone doing anything door to door but I must say it an amazing product and an outstanding company. My husband works late and although I have a dog I want to know that I have help on the way if I ever needed it. They have a great response time and I have not had one issue. I high recommend it to anyone. If you are put off by door to door I understand but you really are getting a great deal. It provides me with peace of mind and the security I need to feel safe and protected! |

(Added Apr 21/10) We had our system installed last year (7/2009). As with one of the other reviewers, I found this website after we had the system installed. We got the system the same way that everyone else has...a young sales person came knocking on the door wanting to put a sign in our yard. At first I was a little leary of someone wanting to install a security system at 8 o'clock at night; I was not comfortable with this at all. My husband was interested because of the digital/remote alarm system so he presuaded me to get the it. Unlike everyone who has complained about the company and the monitoring service, we have had no problems. Our alarm has been set off several times and everytime the alarm monitoring service calls. We have also had our alarm go off and the police have been notified to come to our house. Once when we were at work and another when the silent alarm was set and we were at home. We love the alarm system. It works! We too are blown away by some of the reviews. We would strongly recommend Platinum Protection to anyone. |

(Added Apr 6/10) I have a Platinum Protection alarm system at my house. At first, I was very skeptical when the salesman knocked on my door. He said he was doing advertising, and that they would buy me a cellular-based system with remotes if I kept a sign in my yard. After I said I would like to get the system, he came in and then told me I had to pay a monthly fee, and an activation fee. I was a little upset, but I figured it's just like any other service, and nothing is for free. So, I signed up for 5 years, and then a technician showed up like 45 minutes later. WOW!!!! I tried to hold off to talk to my wife, but he said they had to install it today. Well, I did want a system, so I let them. After all that, I was so sure I had been scammed that I purposely set it off. Well, they actually called me before I could find my phone. I actually had to call them back and cancel the police. My wife actually loves it. So, I don't know about the people on this site that say it's a scam, or it doesn't work, because the system definitely does, and I was the most skeptical customer they've had probably. And I've researched other companies, and while they're all viable, Platinum had the best reviews and BBB rating. I guess we'll keep em. |

(Added Mar 15/10) (Updated July 19/10) To make a long 3 year story extremely short, this has been the worst $2000 I have ever spent. This company monitors about half the time, has the worst customer service ever, and fails to uphold promises they make to you. We're actually having a party June 7th, 2010 when our contract will be up. What can I say? Live and learn. Moral of the story is: never purchase anything from a 19 year old door-to-door salesman. Update: Within our last month of service before our contract expired, this company confirmed everything I thought before and more! Our account was sold to Safe Securities, thus being the THIRD time our account has been turned over. With this being said, platinum protection and safe securities both automatically withdrew the $50.00 for the month of May. I love it, the icing on the cake! The only good thing I have to say about the alarm companies in general is that safe security's customer service exceeded platinum's. All in all, it is what is is. What a fantastic, wonderful experience I will be telling my grandchildren in years to come.... |

(Added Jan 21/10) Platinum Protection did the same as posted by PA. resident to me-in addition-they lost my contract- found contract 5 months later and started to bill me even though they were not monitoring my home. I had a couple of incidents with my father setting off the alarm when I was not home and also my boyfriend, both times it went long enough to require a call from Platinum- none was received by them because they were not monitoring since they had no contract. I installed with ADT and then 3 months later Platinum takes almost $200 in charges. They found the contract and my bank account info and decided they could just take the money out. I am in the process of having to legally clear this up. Do not go with PLATINUM PROTECTION!!! Very sleazy practices. I have their system all boxed up for pick up. Which was not as inclusive as ADT. I placed a call to the Platinum Protection headquarters to find out information on a security system that did not require a home phone line. The associate was very friendly and super informitave. He was very thourough with explaining the equipment, service options, warranties, etc. Platinum Protection set me up with a system that I can control through my cell phone! The technician arrived right on time the next day and carefully installed the brand new GE Security system. The Tech did a great job training me how to use my security system. I now have peace of mind when I leave my home, thanks to Platinum Protection. |

(Added Jan 20/10) We got our alarm system from Platinum in the fall and so far we have been very happy. We knew we were going to have a 5yr contract and figured we would have the same with any other company. Installation was a breeze and all of our equipment is working great. I am immediately notified by email if the alarm goes off and is turned off. I can also set the alarm or check the status on my phone. It is definitely worth it. |

(Added Jan 9/10) Me and my family were out of town over the Christmas holiday when our home security alarm went off. Platinum Protection immediately notifed me and my local police of the incident. The police were on sight within minutes. My Father, who lives nearby, was notified by Platinum and was there in moments also. The police stated that the loud sounding alarm must have scared the burglar away because nothing was taken. Platinum Protection did their job at keeping my home and family safe. Thank you Platinum. |

I'm not posting to address the concerns of a "Bad Seed" or a poor tactic sales approach. I do know a few things about the industry and Platinum: 1) I have a great system that works well and provides peace of mind for my family. 2) I know the sales guy that sold me my system didn't say anything that would misrepresent the contract terms. 3) No company can control what at bone head 19 year old full commission sales person says. 4) If you don't want to be sold something don't answer the door and don't sign a contract. Platinum has meet my level of expectation, they installed a system and I'm getting monitoring. Nothing more or less, I'm getting a great product and better peace of mind. |

(Added Dec 12/09) I chose Platinum because I had a few friends that worked with Platinum, and I also have a few neighbors that have alarms from Platinum Protection. Everything I heard about Platinum was positive and so I decided to use them and have been pleased. Platinum Interactive is one of the coolest features I have ever seen and I show off to all of my friends how I can basically control my entire house from my Blackberry. I am hoping they will make a Android App soon since I will be moving over to a Google phone in the next few months. I would recommend Platinum Protection to anyone that is looking for a home security system. The customer service is great and if I have any problems they usually respond pretty quick. I did have one problem with a window sensor not working and called them and they sent someone out within 2 days. Great company and am happy with my purchase. |

My husband and I have been very impressed with the quality of the system, as well as the excellent customer service provided by Platinum Protection. We have referred Platinum to all of our friends and family and would recommend Platinum's services to anyone. I can't thank Platinum enough for the piece of mind that we have every time we have to leave our home to run errands or go to work, knowing that our home is secure. We feel that the pricing is also very reasonable and love having the Platinum Protection sign in our front yard. |

(Added Oct 24/09) (Updated Jan 22/10) I am being forced to pay for a system that I will never use. The sensor fell off the back door and keeps setting off the alarm. I refuse to get the necessary permit from the Police Department and Fire Department. I was unaware that this was a requirement, until after the installation hole was cut in the wall. The salesperson informed me to watch the same Grandchildren that would be "protected" by this system from inadvertently setting off the alarm, as this would result in bills from the Police Department or Fire Department. BUYER BEWARE - It is not a 36 month contract it is a 60 month contract. One month is too long to pay for something you won't use. Five years is ridiculous. I hope the money I am paying is being put to good use. It is not going to my "unprotected" Grandchildren. Update: I am no longer under contract with this alarm company. I was able to buy out my contract for $650.00 additional dollars. The phone calls have stopped. The alarm is not sounding off. So all is not lost. I made a ridiculously costly mistake. Live and learn. |

My whole system has been shut down the past week for equipment failure and they won't do anything to help me. The salesman was very pushy and told me a bunch of lies about the company. (Now I know the truth) Whenever I call customer service all they say is read your contract. |

(Added Oct 15/09) Platinum Protection was recently in my neighborhood and they were very courteous and were also surprisingly licensed for our state and town. The man that came to my door was very polite and didn't try to force me to do anything. Because of this, I decided to go with Platinum Protection for my home security and I am 100% satisfied with their company. They are always nice at customer service if I ever have to call in. I would definitely recommend Platinum if you guys ever look into getting an alarm system. |

(Added Aug 18/09) Stay away from this one. They come late at night, lots of high pressure and very little is true. I got mine removed by cancelling the very next day. But they did a lot of damage to my walls and doors, which they found very funny when I asked if they were going to repair when they removed the equipment. In the worst case they drilled a 3/4 inch hole at a 45 deg angle in my living room paneling to run a 1/16 inch wire to an outlet. I am still trying to find a way to make it look half way decent. They told me to hang a pictue over the holes. Customer service assured me they would attempt to repair damage. That was just one more of many lies. How could I trust them with my home security? After the install it took about an hour to clean the house and carpet (grease) after they left at 11:30 PM. |

I was comfortable with GE- so I knew the equipment would work (anyone who complains and says GE is a bad company better think about the last flight they took- thanks to GE the planes engines got the aircraft off the ground) But the idea seemed interesting to me. Put a sign up and get a system. Of course everyone pays the monitoring, no big deal. But I love the alarm. It works. I haven't had to "use" the alarm, but I have purposefully set it off myself, and the monitoring company calls right away. I'm blown away by some of the reviews and the ignorance of some people. I strongly recommend Platinum Protection. |

I was approached by a REALLY courteous young man at my home and he told me about the security system for my house- he told me the system would be "free" and all I would have to pay is the monitering fee of 42.99 a month and an activation fee of 99$. Everything panned out and I am SO happy I went with Platinum Protection. The technician was as nice as can be and also cleaned up after himself and everything. Made my DAY! Update: Everything has been great!! |
