(Added May 3/11) I have The Monitoring Center alarm system for little more than 4 months and was working fine. For no fault of mine the system has stopped sending the signals to the center and now they are asking $65 per hour to solve the problem. First they agreed to waive the fee to fix the system but when I called to confirm they went back on their promise and wants to charge 65 per hr. There is no guarantee that the system will work after spending, God knows how many work hrs they may charge to fix the problem caused by no fault of mine. I am prepared to forgo one year prepaid subscription rather than inviting more trouble with this company.

(Added March 10/11) I've been a customer of The Monitoring Center for the past year and a half, and have no complaints. I installed my own DSC alarm system in our old home and had TMC take over the monitoring (this required a technicians visit), when we moved I installed a new system in the new house and continued using TMC (just updated the premises info, zone list and contacts), no technicians visit on the second house but a lot of help from their technical support which really made the difference. Our first renewal is just around the corner, and I do plan on staying with them.

(Added March 8/11) I've had the service for 2 months. Paid $550 for the equipment and installation. Since that time the alarm has gone off at least 10 times. All those times the alarm wasn't even set. The service tech has been out twice, and he supposedly fixed it each time. I'm going to have them pull it, and refund my entire payment. As far as I'm concened they have not lived up to their obligation. I'm not saying they aren't reputable, and maybe they are a good company, however, in my case they didn't measure up.

(Added Jan 12/11) I am a happy TMC customer, or I guess I should say I was. My three years are up which means that I am no longer eligible for their 9.99 / month rate - my "renewal" is at 12.95 per month. And yes, they are still advertising 9.99 but they claim that when they say the rate is "for a minimum 3 year term" ... what they really mean is that it is available for a maximum 3-year term. I've tried logic and I've tried using their own marketing materials against this obviously counter-intuitive policy. In my world long-term paid up customers get the best rate - not so in the TMC world.

(Added Dec 26/10) The Monitoring Center is a great company with great service for a great price. I have had the service for two weeks and I am so happy with the setup, install, and the great price, $9.99 a month with 6 months free! They had to come back out after the initial install becuase of a fault in the system, but the service person came back and fixed my problems and made sure we were back up with 100% satisfaction. I'm very happy with this service.

(Added July 19/10) We've been using them for about 1/2 year now and so far they've been very good. I installed my own system. When the local installer came to program the system, he was very helpful. When I had questions about programming my system to setup various features, the phone service reps were very helpful and knowledgeable. Great deal for the price and when you think about it, just to monitor your system why should you be paying $30+ ?

(Added May 15/09) I switched from Brinks to the Monitoring Center after being with Brinks for 9 years I had to buy my own system I paid about $400. I picked a unit from Honeywell. I installed it myself but I found programming the unit above my skills. I had The Monitoring Center send a installer out to finish the job. It took him 2 hrs to complete the install. He was very helpful and charged me $ 79. per hr. well worth the price. It has been 1 1/2 years now and I'm still very happy with the service. I like the $9.99 a month over $40.00 a month anyday!

(Added Dec 20/08) I got a security system from this company about two months ago. I had to pay $800 for the basic DSC system which other companies offering for free but I still liked the idea as I will only need to pay $9.99 every month. When I was signing up they told me that there would be no maintenance required on their equipment because the equipment is so good. Well, lo and behold my motion detector started going off for no reason, causing false alarm after a month and when I called for service, first of all no one answered my call for half an hour, second they were charging me $125 to come and fix my motion sensor. I paid it to fix my motion sensor and after a week my door contact was loose and causing trouble with the alarm and I couldn't even arm my system. So again they were asking for $125 to come and fix it. I found it ridiculous that their equipment was not dependable and I've learned my lesson not to go with cheap monitoring companies because in the end you always end up losing. I've cancelled my contract and am going with a better company.

(Added < April/08) The Monitoring Center delivered exactly what they promised. Nice and helpful staff. Can't beat the $9.99 per month either. Very happy here in S.Fla.
