(Added Dec 14/11) (Former Guardian Alarm Employee) Guardian Alarm is a very bad company. I use to work for this company, although I can not share company "confidential" information, I can tell you how dishonest this company is. I have not meet anybody in administration that truly cares about their client and their safety. I am so embarrassed that I even worked for this company.   It is run by a bunch of goons and thugs. I have witnessed how horrible this company is and how they scam  from their clients. I do not recommend this company at all and advise to deal with a competent company instead.
(Added Sep 1/11) I was with cincinnati bell coplete connections then was informed that this new company was going to take over monitoring.  I called guardian yesterday to say I was not impressed with their service.  We opened the front door and with complete connections the alarm would sound right away with guardian it did not.  I called to see why and they said they have something built in to keep down false alarms, I said I was used to complete conections .  I then said ok cancel me I am gonna find another alarm service.  They tried to lower the price to 19.95 but I still said no. She said it would be cancelled this Monday Aug 29, 2011.  But, I am worried because I feel they might be getting ready to soak me for alot of money. After reading the comments others have said about them.  If they are planning to soak me I swear this is not right and I hope for a class action suit because I would be apart of it.
(Added Aug 15/11) I had Complete Protection alarm service through Cincinnati Bell. Cincinnati Bell transferred their monitoring to Guardian Alarm Company as of August 1 2011. I called to cancel my service with Guardian Alarm Company on August 2nd 2011 because I am going to try Alarm Relay since it is cheaper (I hope it is cheaper). Guardian said that it would take 30 days to process and a retention person would be contacting me in a few days. I ask them if I was canceled. She said "no, a retention person would call me in a few days and maybe match the price". It was apparent that Guardian Alarm Company was not going to cancel my service as I requested. I contacted the BBB and filed a complaint on 3 Aug 2011.  I called Guardian Alarm Company once again on 3 August 2011 and said "I want to cancel my service today and I do not want a run around" I told the phone rep that I needed to speak with a supervisor. Jeff a supervisor came on the phone and I told him the same as above. He said “You signed a contract with Cincinnati Bell to have monitoring until 4 Dec 2012". I ask Jeff if he would send me a copy of that contract that I signed. Jeff said "I thought you would have a copy of it". HAHA, I said to Jeff "I knew you were going to say that" I had already called Cincinnati Bell and spoke with them before I called Guardian to see how far I was paid up in advance for monitoring and if I was under contract. Supervisor at Cincinnati Bell informed me that I wasn't under contract for any length of time. I told Jeff from Guardian Alarm Company the above and told him "good try". He finally agreed to cancel my service with an effective date of 31 July 2011.  From reading the reviews on Guardian and from my limited experience with them it is apparent that they will lie to you and say you are under contract and give you the run around if you try to cancel service with them. I just hope that they don't send me some outrageous bill or something. I wouldn’t recommend this company. Maybe I will change my mind after shopping around.
(Added June 4/11) I signed a contract in Pennsylvania in June of 06. I moved to Oklahoma in January of 07 and transferred the service to Oklahoma. No mentioned of a new contract at that time but ended up with a new 3 year committment with a auto renewal for another 3 years when the contract expired in January 2010. I would not recommend doing business with anyone affilated with Guardian. They fail to mentioned clauses in the contract that benefit them like the auto renewal program. ADT as an example has a 3 year committment with month to month after the 3 years.Additionally, my alarm system exterior door alarm was not working. I had called thenm for service of which they set me up with a sub contractor who attemted to get ahold of me and finally did. I arranged a time but then they never showed up. What had happened was that Guardian had cancelled the work order without my permission bercause they said they could not get in touch with me. That was a breach of their contract but they didn't see it that way. I settled with the remaining contract along with my cancellation notice. The service is substandard and they are not customer friendly to say the least.
(Added June 4/11) DO NOT USE GUARDIAN ALARM! They do not let you out of your contract if you move. This can come to thousands of dollars and they will send your bill to collections if not paid. They never explained this to me when signing with them and it was hidden in the fine print. Horrible company with sneaky contract. They know what they are doing and they do not care!!!
Update: Do not use Guardian Alarm, horrible company. Their contract is sneaky and misleading. They will not let you out of it if you move. I am now forced to give them thousands of dollars because I moved down the street and do not need another alarm at the new house (after 4 years with them). They use small print to get you to re-sign a 5 year contract. They threaten to sue you and ruin your credit. They know what they are doing is wrong so they avoid talking to you. I will never ever use Guardian Alarm and will spread the word to all my friends.
(Added Sept 2/10) 2 years ago we signed a 36 month agreement with Guardian alarm. The salesman was very nice and we had no  issue. The alarm pad started beeping we couldn't get it to stop, I call the service department and they quickly tell me they will send  a tech out to us. The guy isn't here for more than 3 minutes and  informs me it is not the battery like the phone rep had said. He  hands me the battery and pushes a few buttons to stop the beeping and leaves. I call Friday to see if we can get our rates reduced and  the sales guy on the phone informs me about a $184.00 tech fee (that I was never told about) and he would get rid of that fee if I  sign another 36month contract with them. Also, while I am on the  phone he starts telling me about how I can reduce my cost by getting rid of my home phone and just use my cell phone at home. I have to  say I do not need suggestions from someone who I do not know, also I believe since I was never informed of any fees to have someone come out to my house I should be either get a discount or have that $184.00 taken off my next bill. I shouldn't have to sign another  contract for that to happen. I will not be renewing my contract with  a company who hires employees who are not trained properly and are not interested in their customers, just their deep pockets.
(Added May 27/09) Guardian uses their contract to unfair  advantage over their customers. This company has a contract that can bind you for life.  It states they have the right to increase your contract amount at any time or times after the first year. When they do so, you must  sign a new contract at the higher price which automatically extends  your contract for five years again. You cannot cancel the contract,  if you try to do so, they then tell you the contract will be  "accellerated" and will be due in full immediately, and you will be  sued if you do not pay. Every contract change or modification  contains the clause that the contract extends for five years. Since  they can FORCE you to accept a price increase, which you must sign,  they then also force you to extend for five years.

You can be on the hook to them for life once you sign.  It has happened to me, I was forced to sign an upgrade contract at  the threat of "due in full" if I didn't, and extended five more  years when I only had a few months to go on my original contract.  And I was told that since the original contract was extended the  equipment which was supposed to be paid for within 5 years would  also be extended. I am stuck for five more years unless I pay them  in full over $1700 in cash, or get sued.
