I've had this system for 6 months and must say I am impressed.

The salesman was curtious, patient, and did not pressure us at all. The installer was prompt, knowledgeable and honest. The system's keypad and siren are hardwired to a hidden control panel. The window and door sensors are not hardwired which to me is a relief. Hardwiring window and door sensors would have made such an unbearable mess! The only concern that I have is that my phone lines (coaxial cable) are easily accessable from the side of the house. A burglar just has to cut them to keep the system from sending a signal to the central monitoring station. The alarm does sound, but thats it. I need to secure (and hide) those cable wires better.

The system does not cost me anything upfront, but I did have to pay for an extra window sensor and two remote controls for the alarm. Good thing is that all I had to do is grease the palms of a alarm installer I know from the neighborhood and got the extra sensor and two remotes for under $100.00....God bless America! (Slomins wanted $450.00!) He also makes service calls for $20.00!(Slomins wants $80.00 to send one of their techs over).

The system does deter. I am in law enforcement and can say that most confirmed burglaries take place in homes with poor doorlocks (and old doors/windows) and homes without activated home security systems.  Unless you live in a secluded multimillion dollar mansion like the one out in Long Island, chances are the burglar won't waste his time... especially in the Cities where most burglars are crackheads looking for a fix or unemployed day laborers looking for a quick and easy score.

Pair up your Slomins system with a good doorlock like Multilock or Medeco and you in good shape.
