Recently the customer service is a problem. When we bought our house it came with a protection one system and so we continued with them. The system we have is relatively old and very few technicians with protection One know how to handle it, although it is their system and functioning perfectly otherwise. We recently decided to upgrade our system and when we scheduled the appointment for the technician to come out the customer service did not realize that the upgrade was not compatible with our existing system. They sent in a technician who had never handled this kind of system before. He realized he couldn't upgrade it, but had to install a whole new one, after he had taken the old system down. Then he did not have the equipment to right away install the whole new system and asked to reschedule to another day which we did for the following week. But then before he left I had to request him to put back the old system! I am just surprised he was even considering leaving us without an alarm system for 3 days! He did put back the old system after my request but did not put it back right. 10 minutes after he left something came lose and the alarm siren went off which I could not shut down. Unlike earlier times when protection one customer service called back immediately they called back after about 5 minutes. The agents on the phone had no knowledge of the old system and could not help me disarm it. Moreover, they kept insisting on me finding the panel box of the alarm system that is a new feature and does not exist for the older models. While the siren was blaring, the agents repeatedly ignored my telling them that this system does not have a separate panel box. So not only did they not have instructions for all the systems they maintain, they have no capacity to think beyond those basic instructions and they blatantly kept undermining a customers intelligence. How hard can it be to see if there is a panel box or not! In the end I had to disarm the system myself - without any assistance from the customer service at all! Better quality customer service and technicians would definitely not hurt protection one or their clients!
