I spoke to a sales rep from Protect America who told me that I could have a wireless system with them.
I wanted to eliminate the house phone since we already have wireless phones. I also explained to him that I have a usbport from Verizon. I explained that I would not have the system on all the time. I was charged by the minute. He said it did not matter that the wireless system would run off of the router even thouh the computer would not be on. I asked him this on several occassions in order to make sure. Each time he said it would run off of the router. Once the system arrived a tech stepped us through the installation. The system didn't work. I was then told by him that I would have to leave my laptop on in order to be protected. Maybe I could turn it on each night or when I wanted protection!!!! I was still going to be paying for full coverage.
Once I called a customer rep to request a return label I was told that I would have to pay 19.95 to return it myself. She was very rude and tried to blame me for the misunderstanding!! I am also being charged a 79.95 restocking fee for the equipment. She argued with me about me misrepresenting my wireless connection, even listened to parts of the origianl sales recording. She can't do anything about the restocking fee or the return fee, even though she admitted the salesman should have been clearer.
This company has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I am sorry I dealt with them at all and will be making complaint to the BBB. By the way, the wireless system is installed by sticking the detectors on the doors and windows with sticky velcro. They are easily removed.
