If you are considering Protect America, read the agreement VERY carefully before you sign anything.
I tried canceling my service today, because it's been over two years and my original contract was over. I no longer need the service. Finally, after waiting on the call 45 minutes for a cancellation rep, I was told that my contract automatically renewed in September. The rep mentioned that the clause is in the second paragraph. OK, although they can legally do this after I signed the contract, most businesses (if they are customer centric) will notify customers that there contract is about to be renewed. When I asked this? Well, they said the law does not require this because I live in Arizona.
To make matters more difficult, I have to send a written notification that I want to cancel my account. I was told on the phone that the address is also in the agreement form, but the fax number isn't. So, how do you know if they received the letter? I guess you have to keep calling and wait on line forever each time.
Summary: If you are looking for an alarm company that provides good customer service, look elsewhere! Also, if you do choose Protect America, keep in mind that you will most likely have difficulties canceling your service when you find you no longer need it.
