So I'm on the way home from work yesterday and my fiancee texts me and tells me she is getting an alarm installed in our home. I ask her the details and so forth and I think all she heard was free installation.

As I get home the guys are pretty much done, but I'm sure the sales pitch is just like everyone else has been saying. Two young guys in their early to mid 20's show up and say their are from out of town and they are trying to get new business in the area and tell her she can get this and that with free installation for $47.99 for 3yrs. So me being the person I am didn't say anything right away but this morning when I woke up my investigating began. #1 I have never heard of Platinum Protection (home security) #2 when did home security start doing door to door sales and install on the same day (hmmm) #3 Their was 2 cars at my house both with out of state tags but neither had a sign of the company or anything on them.

I came across this site and wow everything that everybody is saying is so true. Included in my installation is 2 door/window sensors - 1 medical pendants - 2 glass break - 2 smoke detector - 1 motion sensor - 1 cellular signal.............well lets just say I was missing half of the items they checked. I got home from work and read the contract...instead of 3yrs it clearly says 5yrs - so that's $2879.40 plus tax on this alarm system. With that being said I immediately faxed the cancellation papers and called them to come get their equipment. You have 3 days to cancel and I want to make sure it's gone.

I rather spend my money on installation and on a company that is well known. Like most people I have small kids and I want window chimes and all installed.  I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Update:

After faxing the proper paperwork to cancel and verifying that they received it. I called other alarm companies to come out and give me an estimate on a brand new install.

Come to find out my motion sensor that Platinum Protection installed didn't even work. If you walk in front of it you are suppose to get a red light, there was nothing. My alarm was armed and when I entered the house you are suppose to have about 30-45 secs to disarm the alarm correct? I set in front of the main panel and nothing happen so the alarm would have never went off. Again I recommend staying away from this company. If you get a system get one from Brink, ADT, Protection One, etc. someone well-known and who will install a hard wired system. Wireless is not the way to go because if the battery dies then your screwed.
