We had a door to door salesman come to our door last night at 8:30pm, offering a free installation and reduced monthly service payments if we'd sign a contract that night and allow them to put a sign in our yard.

They'd actually come to our house before, and I got upset with my husband for inviting a stranger into our home and basically giving them the grand tour. After that first experience, we called to verify that they were a legitimate company and found that they were.  So the second time, I was more willing to talk to them and despite my better judgement, we signed up. No sooner than we'd sign the contract, the installers showed up (without asking us first). By this time it was 9:30p.m. The salesman assured us that the install process would only take an hour and a half tops.  They were there until 12:30 in the morning installing, which already put me off. Before they left, they tested the system setting off every alarm that they could to make sure things were working (police, fire, medical, and burglary alerts).

After they FINALLY left, we went to bed. 1:30 in the morning, we had a call from the police department telling us two officers were outside our house wanting to speak with one of us.  All those tests they did??? Went through as actual calls.  2:30 in the morning, I woke up to rattling windows, flashing lights, our door bell ringing which made my dog go bananas. This time it's the fire station. We had to again explain about the bad alarm set-up.

The next hour my husband's phone rang three times with the alarm company responding to three separate medical alerts. He had to answer them each time to keep an ambulance from showing up at our door.

We were up until 3:30 in the morning dealing with all this chaos. The next morning, the system didn't work which sealed the deal for us that we made a REALLY DUMB decision.

We just faxed in our Notice of Cancellation. Just a warning to anyone else out there! I hear good things about Brinks and ADT which is where we'll be looking next -- during normal daylight hours.
