After reading the majority of these reviews, I am thankful I had second thoughts about this company.
My story starts with a mid 20's sales person providing me with his high octane sales pitch. I have to admit, I was really convinced. I became however awfully suspicious when the sales guy told me the install crew was in the area and would come over shortly. I thought it was kind of weird that they would come over that soon. I said okay, and low and behold, 15min later two people show up in a dilapidated minivan. Again these kids couldn't have been over the age of 22. And they did not look professional in the least. One had baggy cargo shorts and the other was sporting ripped up jeans and a dirty flannel shirt.
At the time of installation, they promised me, the security system would not in any way interfere with my phone line. I was initially concerned, because I work from home and use my phone all the time and use my phone line to bring in my internet connection. They left in short order, they left in about 30min. And about 30min after they left, my internet stopped working. At this point, I was really starting to have buyer's remorse. Luckily my wife, who also works from home has a dedicated internet line (cable) and I did a little research. I typed in the company name in Google and low and behold, other horror stories like the others posted on this site. I looked at my contract and saw the 3days to cancel in fine print. I called the number right away and told them to take the system out and cancel my contract. I scanned my document and faxed it right over and they took the system out two days later. Mind you I still had problems with my phone line and I had to have the phone company come over to fix what Platinum protection had done. The phone guy actually had to severe the system alarm and had to completely re-route my phone line to fix what they had done. The phone guy told me that he had never seen anything as screwed up before from a alarm system installation. The phone guy was at my place for an hour fixing what Platinum protection had done.
Lesson learned, just say no. The pitch is almost too good to be true and that usually means it is.
