I would like to say that Platinum Protection is a real RIP OFF!!
I should have known this by their sales tactics. Too Good Too BE True!! I was sold on a wireless system that does not need my phone line, however when my alarm kept randomly going off and I tried calling customer service with my cordless phone it kept disrupting my phones calls, so I had to use my cell phone. It's a good thing is non peak hours on my cell phone b/c I had to wait on hold at least 15 mins before a representative answered my call.
When I did speak to a rep, he was worthless. He kept telling me to hit the status button which indicated the system was ok, well I had done that before calling and that did not fix the problem. The rep stayed on the phone with me a few minutes then we ended the call. The moment I hung up the alarm kept periodically going off. So I called the company right back, held for another 18 minutes only to get the same worthless representative. He told me to do the same thing, then I was told unfortunately until a technician could get to my residence I would have to keep hitting the status button and disarm button. I told him that wasn't not going to happen because my keypad was two flights of stairs down and I'm a light sleeper and no way was I going to be jumping up and running downstairs all night!
The rep told me the other option was to disable the system by disconnecting one of the wires, well this didn't work either. I had disconnect both the red and black wire to stop the problem. So that left my residence unsecured. The rep said he would put my request in as urgent and it took 2 days to get a call back about the problem. Well I was told a technician would be able to come out 10 days from the date of the call and I'd have to pay the technician $30 because one is not in my area and I'm beyond the 6 mos grace period. Well I live on the East Coast and this company is based on the West Coast, guess this how they sucker folks and make money off them when they need a techinician to come out.
Also I had already had the monitoring fee deducted from my bank account twice in one month. So I accepted the 10 day out appointment and called billing to see about cancelling this service. I was told I'd have to pay 80% of my remaining contract which has an additional 32 mos left on it. This total was some ridiculous amount like $1200!! I couldn't believe this and am very pissed off about it!! I am stuck with this service for 2 yrs and 8 mos! Thank goodness I got out of a full 5yr contract in the very beginning.
I feel that Platinum Protection has a lack of professionalism and is not worth the money. I honestly did not have a problem with my previous company in the 6 1/2 yrs that I had them and I surely regret leaving ADT!!! Lesson learned, I would not EVER recommend this company to anyone especially if you live on the East Coast!!
