Review For Pinnacle Security (Con't)
Pinnacle Security is based in Utah, but have clients across the country. This is another alarm company known for their door to door sales technique. Pinnacle's monitoring is provided by alarm.com, SAI (Security Associates International) and ADT. Therefore, Pinnacle will install your system, but your alarm will be monitored by a different company. If you have had a good or bad experience with a particular alarm company, please submit your review! Reviews are only edited for spam and/or vulgar language. Thanks for submitting!

Pinnacle Security preys on the elderly and scams them.
My mother can no longer care for herself due to a stroke and has moved into an assisted living facility, leaving my 81 year old dad at home for the first time and leaving me to take over their affairs. They had an alarm system, but my mom had always taken care of the business dealings, so my dad did not have any idea as to the specifics about it. Pinnacle Security, after they approached him at his home by ringing his door bell, left him with the impression that this person was a representative of his current alarm company by referring to themselves as "the security company". He did not understand that he was already in a 3 year contract with the other company, and did not understand that he couldn't terminate the agreement without penalty. He also did not understand that the Pinnacle agreement would not be terminated without a stiff penalty.
After the Pinnacle Security alarm installer completed his work, he told my Dad that it was customary to tip him!? My Dad gave him $20. Two months into the contract, when realizing how much he was spending on my mom's care, worried that he would not be able to afford to pay for her care into the future, he decided to terminate his home monitoring service. When he contacted Pinnacle Security, they told him he had signed a 3 year contract and that it would cost him $1600 to terminate it. My father reached out to me for help.
I repeatedly contacted Pinnacle, requesting that they release my father from the contract. With every conversation, they have refused to budge unless the early termination penalty was paid.
I've escalated my calls to any supervisor or manager, explaining the situation, asking that they not prey on an elderly man who is watching every penny to care for his ailing wife of almost 60 years, and still they would not budge. In a state of unbelief, I wrote a letter to Pinnacle Security's CEO, asking for relief from the contract. A customer service representative called me back, stating the CEO DIDN'T TALK TO CUSTOMERS, and that they still would not release my dad from his contract. Infuriated, I've filed complaints with both the Utah BBB and the Utah Consumer Protection Division. It is clear that Pinnacle Security preys on the elderly and scams them into a long and expensive contract. This company must be stopped.
Update:
The company agreed to cancel the contract after I pushed for binding arbitration through the BBB and filing complaints with the Utah Consumer Protection Bureau. They would not go back and refund any amount collected prior to the date of the cancellation, which covered a number of months. I'm sure they drug it out long enough to cover their expenses.
