We had a Pinnacle Sales rep come to our door in May/2009 to offer the system for free. He said it was free because it was an advertisement for the company for our neighborhood. There were 3 of us at home talking to this sales rep.

We asked him numerous times about a contract and he answered that there is none. We made it clear that we are thinking about putting the house on the market. We can't get into a contract with anyone because we didn't know when the house would sell. The only thing that my dad signed was a work order. No where on front and back and fine print that it indicated that it was a contract.

3 months goes by and parents decide to cancel their service. It's an extra $50 a month and they don't ever use the system. I called the company to cancel. To our surprise, we were notified by the rep that we have signed a 39 month contract and that if we wanted to cancel, we would have to pay the remaining balance of 36 months of monitoring fees. He also said that the contract clearly says that we had 3 days to cancel. He said that he had my dad's signature on the contract. We were given no such paper. We signed no such paper. I requested to have a copy of our contract mailed to me.

When my mom gets it, she calls me and tells me that it's not my dad's signature. Nothing on that contract has my dad's handwriting. The sales rep must have done it after my dad signing the work order. When I called Pinnacle about the contract, it took us several phone calls to get anywhere. Each time they needed something different faxed. First it was a letter, and then they wanted my dad's license to compare and to prove that it was in fact forged. After waiting for a response from them, I called and I was notified that they are waiting for us to send in a police report. We were never asked to get one. My dad had to lose one day of work to get it. Finally, Pinnacle had everything that they need in order to make a decision.

I have called several times for an update the last several months on a decision and we are still waiting. It has to go thru the cancellation department. I was told on the phone that the sales rep was fired, that we are not the only ones that he has scammed. So my question is why it's taking so long for us to get this contract canceled? They are still charging my parents every month for monitoring. Anyone who's thinking about going with Pinnacle, please don't. Do your research first. Don't be pressured by the door to door sales reps. YOU are the decision maker.
