I did a self-install in my house a few years ago and it was pretty straightforward, except for the week or so it took to get the ABN communicating correctly. Recently, I've been looking into upgrading with some of their newer equipment, but it's been a painful experience so far just to get answers about what I need and how to make changes without messing up my existing system. While it's really hard to beat NextAlarm for pricing, their customer service is touch-and-go at best. It's almost impossible to speak with anyone live when you call. You have to leave a message and wait for a callback. And there's no one there nights, weekends or holidays. Expect the same response level if you submit a 'ticket' via their website -- they respond on their (west coast) schedule, not yours. Calling the companies that sell their equipment is useless, as they only sell it and know less than zero about how any of it works.
Other than their front page, NextAlarm's website (especially when you log in to your account) is incredibly outdated, disorganized and sometimes dysfunctional. Their mobile (Android) app is a joke, too, with hardly any useful functionality. Seriously, their web and android apps look and work like they were done as a high school project five years ago. Hard to believe any outward-facing website could like this nowdays -- and it's been the same for years!
All the products they show on their site aren't the same ones the resellers show on theirs, and when I called one of the resellers, they gave me a yet a different model # than what the reseller site listed. Also, the links on both NextAlarm's and resellers sites for manuals, documentation, etc don't match and are linked to older equipment. With new equipment now available that may or may not be compatible with the older stuff, NextAlarm has created a total mess. I would recommend that any do-it-yourselfer proceed carefully; reserach products through the manufacturers sites, and buy only when you have been able to get something in writing from NextAlarm that your proposed configuration will work as you intended. Good luck!
