Nextalarm partners with real alarm monitoring companies and gets a cut of all customers that stay signed up each month.
So basically they are a dealer for other larger actual monitoring companies that don't deal directly with the public. They are a very small company with few employees, this is one reason they have trouble handling their call volume. I've been on hold for ever and left several messages with no return.
They claim that their niche is with their voip adapter, but I found out you can buy the same adapter for less then half the price of what they charge you. This is probably what they do. The voip adapter is only as good as your home internet connection is, you need to have a fast connection if you want to use your computer, wireless devices and the voip adapter all together. Plenty of times my adapter went offline and they do not call you to tell you. You can sit there with no alarm monitoring, being unaware of it until there is an issue or someone breaks in. The worst part is that they continue to charge you each month, even though you may actually not be being monitored. I found this out the hard way.
I think they are a young company (mom and pop) that still has a lot of growing to do. They need to find larger investors to take the company to the next level so us customers get the service we deserve. And the worst part is they don't have any field technicians that can come out to help you. You have to do it ALL on your own. Try reprogramming an alarm system on your own, you'll pull your hair out.
I'd say stick with another company like ADT, who has techs that can come out and help you out. It may cost more, but you know what they say, you get what you pay for.
