I was woken up at 5 this morning to my dogs barking at a knock at the front door. It was the police responding to an alarm due to a break in the signal at the garage door.
Monitronics did call, but my cell phone was dead. I looked at the alarm pad and it said the alarm had gone off, but I found it odd that the siren did not wake me or the dogs. I proceeded to let my dogs out the back and that activated the siren! After de activating the alarm, I went outside to speak to the police man. I didn't see any signs of forced entry to the garage and the door was locked! There's no way the alarm could've went off due to that door!
When calling Monitronics to find out why it would call the police without the siren going off, they informed me, the department that could give that info won't be available for over 24 hours because it is Sunday, only Emergency support is available and this didn't qualify! I am Curious as to what would cause my alarm to notify the police, but not activate the siren and wake me up. I believe it was a bug in the system, but if it was a break-in, I could be dead considering the siren did not "alarm" me.
This is not my first major issue with the service provided by monotronics, but I won't go into the other, in order to not make this too long. In short, the other time, I had accidentally set off my alarm and took well over a minute to disarm it. That happened to be the ONLY time Monitronics did NOT call me! That made me question the reliability of the System and made me feel less secure.
BEWARE, is my only warning to anyone considering this company and their equipment.
