

What a joke of a company. These clowns are no better than common crooks.
In 03 I was robbed blind. A 'friend' sold us a system, and monitronics was the monitor service, complete with auto deduct from my checking account yeah!. The service was sub-par, but the effect of my 2 blazing sirens was more what I cared about.
Now the Interesting part; I move out in 06, keep house on market with system, just in case. (my contract was for 3 years, with auto renew for an additional year, all expired.) Finally sell in 07, call them to cancel service, no problem, and they ask if I want it at new house, I tell them i'll think about it and let them know. 3 months go by, these greedy sob's are still dipping in my checking account. I call again, they say sorry, we'll close your account and refund you the 3 months. - OK, everybody makes mistake, no harm no foul. I even send them a letter putting it in writing. Well, 3 months later I see they are still taking money out of my account. This time I call and get red with the girl - who tells me "sir, you need to send a letter. "Oh really? well why didnt you say so .....oh wait, you didnt get it the first time? She even tells me her records show my first call! I ask her why would you continue the service if you knew I sold the house? Her answer was so stupid - "well sir,we were waiting for you to call us back about your new system and we cant just turn off the service, what if it wasnt you calling, or a break in happened" What? are you stupid I gave you your cheezy code the moment I called, you know its me and you know I wanted to cancel -so don't give me your bs lines and run around.
So now I go to the bank, close my checking account I had for 20 years, to keep these greedy little &%$#$%$%@ from stealing from me. 2 weeks later I get a bill from moni-crap-nics stating my financial institution denied payment! They've harrassed my family (who knows the whole story) Called at work....HA HA jokes on you now. I know they'll keep sending bills and eventually try to report to the credit bureau. The bank reversed me 3 months b/c moni-dumbnics was informed to stop autopay, and didnt. They'll deal w/ my lawyer now.
If you are dealing with this same situation:
#1 go to your bank, file autopay grievance - you'll get something back, depending on time frame.
#2 close the acount, my bank waived any fees, b/c I opened a new account immediately. This is the only way to get them to stop drawing from your account.
#3 Make a formal complaint to your state attorney general (you can do it online)They take these kinds of matters VERY seriously.
#4 Call a lawyer there are plenty consumer laws these guys are breaking, as we speak!
#5 Dont ever, ever, ever, let any one auto withdraw from your checking! (I learned my lesson!)
#6 call and write the credit bureaus.
