I've got the the story that tops all horror stories of using Monitronics for your home security needs! This will be short & simple as to what happen to our home using Monitronics is pretty simple to understand!

In 2005, we had decided to get an alarm system installed into our new home. We decided to go with Monitronics over ADT and Brinks as they gave us a good deal on upgraded features, installation, and monitoring fees. Worst mistake ever made on my part!!!!

To make what could be a very long story short...... about 6 months into our contract, someone decided to break into the house while we were out of town. Instead of the police rushing to the house to shoot the POS, Monitronics called as they usually do to verify if the alert is valid or not. The POS  that broke in knew my name (which is easy enough to findout on the internet these days) and answered the phone and stated "I'm (my name) uncle and I'm house sitting for (my name) as the family is out of town on vacation and I forgot the code!" Monitronics GAVE THE POS THE CODE TO DEACTIVATE THE ALARM!!!!! Simple as that and I was wiped out clean in no time! When I called Monitronics to see if they received an alerts during the time I was away, they stated that they did but it was due to my 'uncle' forgetting the code!!!! WTF!?!?! I proceeded to tell them that I have no uncle and that my home was picked clean by this so called 'uncle' and that they allowed this to happen! They stated that the tech that called the house has since been fired after the review of the recored call tape.

After getting lawyer involved, they all the sudden 'lost' the recored call tape for that incident! They offered NOTHING for thier major mistake and I have never heard from them since..... they still to this day avoid my calls once they know it's me calling! DO NOT SUBJECT YOURSELF TO THEIR BS OF MONITORING YOUR HOME, FAMILY, and/or VALUABLES!!!!!! You will lose in every way possible!

Update (Added Oct 15/09):

My review of MONITRONICS is still & will always be NEGATIVE!!! No Resolution ever came, offered, or made!
