(Added July 4/11) I have had my system for two weeks now. But because there is a defective power source, I still don't know if they work. BEWARE when they send you a defective part, you need to send it back to them and they will test it and send you a repaired part or a refurbished part in 2 WEEKS! They are very quick to take your money but there customer service is AWFUL! I am a small business owner and know that I would be out of business if I treated my customers like this! It has been a week and I have yet to get a phone call back from the manager that I was told that would call me back within an hour. I hope that the cameras and DVR actually work now that it is installed, if they don't I am affraid to see how they handle that! BUYER BEWARE!!!!! |
| (Added June 14/11) Warning! Homesecuritystore sent me a defective motion sensor. They gave me an RMA number to return the sensor but made me responsible for the paying shipping fee to their warehouse AND shipping for a repaired or new sensor! Being that they sent me a defective product they should stand behind their equipment and at least cover the cost of shipping just out of mere inconvenience. Their policy is their policy so be warned. |

(Added June 14/11) While shopping for a new alarm system to replace my 18 year old system, and after a break in, I purchased my alarm system through Homesecuritystore.com. Being an avid DIY'er and confident that I could install this system myself (even with no prior knowledge on alarm systems, much less installing them) I talked to a professional at HSS on the phone and placed my order after reviewing all of my options on their website for several days. I ended up buying the GIG2GO! wireless alarm system and the installation was relatively straight forward. The few questions that I did have were promptly answered to my satisfaction via the phone tech support I was promised when I placed my order. They also gave me a 5% discount on my order since it totaled more $1000 USD's. I spent a considerable amount of time researching my alarm system options. I was open to any make or model that provided the features that I wanted. In my opinion, the GIG2GO! wireless system offers the best features and technology at the best price. I am now able to control almost everything in my house, right down to my toaster via a computer or my smartphone. When I called after the initial round of installation questions I was once again met with prompt and courteous service when inquiring about alarm monitoring service. My overall experience with the HSS has been great and I would highly recommend them to anyone who desires to install a great system at a competitive price without having to use a third party installer. |

(Added Aug 7/10) (Updated Jan 3/11) These guys are great. My 12 year old alarm system had a problem and I called my alarm company who I pay $416/year for their 'service' and monitoring, and they said they could send a tech for $120/hour plus parts. And I'd have to wait at least a week because their techs were so busy! No option to actually talk to a tech live. Ridiculous. So I went to the internet and found Home Security Store. I called and immediately was talking with a tech who clearly knew his stuff and helped me diagnose the problem myself. I then ordered the required part on their website. The tech had mentioned if I buy the part from them they would walk me through installation and programming over the phone for free. I received the new part (the alarm board ...the most expensive part of an alarm system and it was only $75) and it came faster than promised. Then I called them for installation instructions, and I installed it (lots of wires to disconnect and connect but as long as you take your time it's not difficult ...no need for a $120/hour tech), and then as promised, a tech spent at least an hour on the phone with me walking me through programming the new alarm board ...he was pleasant, patient, upbeat, and clearly knew his stuff. My alarm system is now perfect. I could not be happier. Not only did I save a small fortune using their service but as an unexpected bonus I discovered I could get alarm monitoring through a company they recommend (Safe Security) for only $8.95/month ...and that company gets terrific reviews on this site ...which is how I found this site (looking for reviews) ...and I clicked on Home Security's customer comment section just to see what others said, and no one had written anything so I thought I owed it to them to tell others how great they are. Update: Yes, I still feel the same way about Home Security Store and continue to refer friends to them and to the alarm monitoring service they recommend. It seems everyone has the same type of alarm contract I had ...about $30 per month and a contract that automatically renews annually so you have to wait until it is up for renewal to cancel ...AND remember to give them the 60-90 days notice in advance that the contract calls for.
