Security Solutions and Technology (SST) (Broadview / ADT Dealer)
(Added May 3/11) We have had our SST sytem for several years. It was the only alarm system offered by the builer of our new home. We paid approximately $1,700 to have it installed in our home. We have had many false alarms since day one. Most are in the middle of the night when we are asleep and there is no breach in security. Not only do we have to reset the alarm, we have to wait for the phone call from the monitoring company. A service highlight was when I learned that SST had sold our monitoring contract. One night when I quickly punched the code into the keypad and let a sick dog out, the alarm went off immediately and continued for 3 hours - from 2am to 5am. I learned the next day that they sold our monitoring contract and the new provider had entered the wrong code when they set-up our system for monitoring. Today I had another great experience. The power went off for split section weeks ago and, of course, the alarm went off again in the middle of the night. I was told to go out and check the circuit breaker at midnight by SST. I checked the next morning and everything was in order. We have not had power to our system since. I just found out that the cost to fix a system that is less than 3 years old and out of warranty is $95 per hour. It's a tough decision - discontinue monitoring and save $25 a month or pay $95 an hour and go back to the alarm going off in the middle of the night

My 87 year old mother was pressured to sign a contract, and according to her, was not even told what the monthly charge would be. She was told there was a charge, but when she asked how much, the salesman replied, "Oh, it's not much." (It was $45.)Although she said the salesman told her she would be billed for the monthly charge, it appeared that she had signed to allow them to draft the charge from her account. As soon as she signed the contract, the salesman called someone and they came right away to install the system. My main issue is that I feel certain that the salesman knew she was confused and was counting on her not knowing how to cancel the contract. Thankfully, she had second thoughts afterward and told me in time for me to cancel it. She would have paid nearly $1700 over the three year term of the contract. As of this writing, we are still waiting for the equipment to be taken out of her house. I have informed Secure Watch that they will not be allowed in to get it unless someone is at home with her. Taking advantage of vulnerable elderly people is despicable.

Customer service at ADT and Sub Contractors for ADT is almost nonexistent. August 6 2009 I had my ADT system up dated and renewed my monitoring service. In December of 2009 I had my phone system changed to VoIP from a wired land line. Knowing that the system could not be monitored in this configuration, I began to make calls to Secure Watch (Sub Contractor) in order to find out what I needed to do to get the system monitored. The first cal to Secure Watch was made on Jan.14, 2010. The operator told me that no one was in the office but I could leave a voice message for the shop. I did that; left a brief massage about my need-name- and return phone number. A week passed and no return call. Jan. 25, 2010 a second call was made to Secure Watch with the same results. In Feb.2010, I called Customer Service at ADT and explained the situation to them. I was told by ADT that I needed to contact Secure Watch because they had the contract and would do the work necessary to get my system back to a monitored status. March and April of 2010 calls were again made to Secure Watch--leaving voice messages and again no return calls. In June of 2010, I called ADT customer service and was told that a complaint would be filed on Secure Watch. July 7,2010 I had not heard from Secure Watch and again called ADT customer service and again explained the situation. I was transfered to Dealer Service and was again told that a complaint would be filed on Secure Watch. I asked to speak to a supervisor at ADT and was told that I would be contacted in 24/48 hours. I am still waiting for that call. Sent a registured letter to the VP of customer service on Aug.2,2010 and have yet to get a reply. All this time I have been paying for monitoring that I do not have because I can not get an answer form ADT or its sub contractor. There is a huge break down in ADT communication and lack of a simple curtesy of returning a phone call. I am letting my attorny handle it from this point. Maybe some one will respond to him.

Recent Review For Interactive Security Electronics:
(Added <April/08) We recently had an alarm system installed by Interactive Security Electronics in Memphis, TN. The company representative was very knowledgable and explained everything in detail. The installer was on time and very neat. He explained the system to my wife and I in a language we could understand. I have had ADT in the past and was very unhappy with the service. My suggestion would be for home owners to try a local alarm company. If you are in TN, I would recomend Interactive Security Electronics.
