Lighthouse Security (Sub Dealer For Monitronics)
Recent Review For Lighthouse Security:
Monitronics (based in Dallas, TX) monitored our alarm system in Topeka, Kansas, for several years without incident. However, after a phone line failure we had a problem light showing on our alarm display. We called Monitronics, their solution was to send out a technican at significant expense. We called the local company (Lighthouse Security, Topeka, KS) that installed the alarm, they gave us a simple set of instructions to test the alarm system with Monitronics.  We did this, it fixed the problem easily without the expensive service call.  We wonder why Monitronics didn't suggest this straightforward and cost-free approach.

Now unhappy with Monitronics, we sent a registered letter giving notice that we were terminating our contract on their terms (you have to fulfill your current year and give 90 days notice). Monitronics started calling us, offering to lower their rates, but would not specify the rate nor would they send a revised contract in the mail--it all had to be done verbally, over the phone. We refused this, as I wanted the revised terms in writing before accepting. Monotronics then started calling every day. I sent another registered letter, asking them to stop calling. They did, but also terminated our service without clear warning (we just noticed a shortened term of service date on our bill, and then noticed that we were no longer receiving bills). This left us unknowingly unmonitored for about six weeks until we figured out that they had dropped us.

In sum, Monitronics was rude to us and was not clear or forthcoming in dealing with our concerns.
