Recent Review For Absolute Security: (Added Jan 15/11) I entered into an alarm contract on 2/28/2010 thru Absolute Security ADT authorized dealer located in Clearwater Fl.  My contract stated clearly that I would be paying $35.99 plus Tax for 3 years- Payment automatically withdrawn from my checking account In advance on the 1st of the month.  In July 2010 I had to replace my ATM card and did not updated with them until Oct. after they caught up with the payments THEY decided without my authorization to change the billing date and on Dec 29 they billed me for Jan 2011 fee and that caused my account to be overdrawn and charged a fee of $34.00.  Also, they took out a higher amount than stated in the contract.  I called them and they said that they were not going to change it to the original date  unless they would charge me for the following month ( in this case Feb) that is 2 month in advance and that should continue to show "good faith" - my contract does not specify that I will be billed 2 months in advance nor the term "good faith" is expressed anywhere.  Bottom line they refused to refund anything.

I did some research and decided for Smith and Wesson.  I've had my home security with SW for over a year and I am happy.   They are very professional, courteous, friendly and answered all my questions.  They do monitor 24/7 and have a quik response, so I feel relaxed because I know my parents are safe.  There are no hidden fees, no hassle.  Very happy customer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Added July 11/10) After many hours of research I made the decision to use Smith and Wesson Security Services of Florida. They are based out of the Tampa area. They installation was wonderful, the person that came to my house answered all of my questions and I would refer anyone looking at home security to them.

Recent Review For Safetouch Security: The worst product and service out there. I have had three companies in the past and this was the worst decision I made all year.  I knew someone who worked for them, and they are a shady company that treat their employess like "dog s***"  Everytime time I call they are under staffed, they have a large turnover rate for employees and I'm thinking I know why.  There service is the same way!! Do not buy security on impulse.  People shop around! How your treated will go along way!

United Alarm

Recent Review For United Alarm: I needed to speak with someone regarding alarm malfunction. After trying for 2hrs. with an alarm blaring no one returned my calls.  I even persuaded the monitoring company to try. After an hour they could not contact anyone either. The next day I again called and was told to call back in 20 - 30 minutes. NOT one person ever returned my call. I have been with this company for over 4 years and this is the treatment. My questions is what can I to do in an emergency without support?  FYI. I did finally disband the malfunctioning alarm, but I really do not want to continue service with this company. After speaking with 6 other alarms company's all seem to fit in the same box, I look forward to hearing from you.  STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!... DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!!... DON'T EVEN CONSIDER DOING BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS!

Recent Review For Space Coast Protection: This review is for Space Coast Protection in Melbourne, Florida.  There is a reason why Space Coast Protection   has 25 OUTSTANDING reviews on ServiceMagic.com. After interviewing 5 companies, we selected SCP for a security (Honeywell Vista 15P) and video surveillance system (MAX4 DVR, ICR-200W cameras).  Customer   service = exceptional. Mary (owner) worked hard to EARN our business  (NOT our experience with FrontLine Protection). She was nice, low  pressure, patient with questions, flexible on the contract, willing to negotiate. Her price beat the competition due to low overhead  expenses. Installation = excellent. Darrell was professional,   thorough, answered all questions. Only negative was that it took several trips to setup the DVR for Internet monitoring. My impression is that they do the job right!

Recent Review For ADT Miramar Office: (Added Aug 25/10) After 20 years with ADT at our business with 5 year renewals, I tried to renew with my local sales office in Miramar, FL.  After may calls to this office with no answer, I had to call Tyco's corporate office in Boca Raton to have them contact their Miramar FL office. Finally heard from a salesman who wrote us a new five year renewal contract. We were quoted a yearly fixed amount for our burglar & fire systems. Upon getting our first invoice the amount was completly different then our contract stated.  Have been trying to reach our local sales office again in Miramar FL to no avail. I have left messages every day in the salesman phones most times I get a message full mail box.  I called their billing dept. but they said I have to speak to my salesman who wrote the contract, they have also tried to call the Miramar Fl office & they get the same run around I have gotten sometimes they can not get through to their own sales office. Be aware if you are trying to deal with the Miramar sales office of ADT.

Recent Reviews For Safeguard America: (Added Feb 14/11) BEWARE if you do not cancel your contract with their company at least 60 days before the end of your contract they will automatically roll you over for another 12 months!! I have been with this company for 6 years and had major issues with their wireless smoke detectors and their crappy technicians who dont know what they are doing!! Took them about 2 months of coming to my house about 5 times to figure out what was wrong with the alarm. They changed out the whole system and there was still a problem then they finally figured out it was the wireless smoke detectors. If I wasnt so pissed I would laugh at how stupid they are. I was told by one of their reps that I was no longer under a contract but he's also stupid because I came to find out that they rolled me over for another 12 months since I didnt cancel my acct 60 days before the end of the contract and I spent 45 minutes talking to a manager who said he cannot do anything that I am bound to the contract. He said he was sorry that I was "misinformed" but there is nothing he can do. I can either pay up until the end of the 12 months or he can sign me up for another 36 months and give me a better price. I have 9 months left on the roll over 12 months and I offered to pay for the next 3 months if he lets me out so that I can give my proper 60 days notice (well 90) but he said he cannot do that. He refused work with me even though I have been a good customer for 6 years. Given the option of me walking away happy with him letting me go 6 months ahead of time or unhappy with making me stick it out with his company for another 9 months he chose for me to stick it out with his company for another 9 months. This company is heartless and has the worst customer service. They dont even care if their customers are happy, they only care about their pockets! You cannot cancel with this company unless you pay out for the duration of your contract, there is no cancellation penalty. You either stay with them or pay them to the end of your contract. Read all their fine print before you sign anything or better yet STAY AWAY!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Added June 23/10) (Updated Sept 16/10) (Updated Jan 12/11) Please stay away from a security company called Safeguard America, and they also used the name Safe Home Security. (Note from Admin: Safe Home Security is the parent company of Safeguard America)  5 Years ago they installed an alarm system in my house and I signed a 3 year contract. For a while, everything was fine, and then several false alarms started occurring. The Police Department sent me a warning and they were going to give me a citation for every false alarm in the future. It took forever to get the company to perform a service call. For a while everything was OK again. After 3 years, the contract quietly "renewed" itself, and I was stuck with their pathetic service. Recently, my house was broken into and burglarized. I suffered about $20000.00 in damages, and lost property that is irreplacable. Clearly, the system was useless. They offered to upgrade the system for $650.00. I was considering the upgrade, but getting them to get them out proved impossible. My family's safety was at risk and my property was not secure. I called them several times, but they could not care. They were just interested in the money. I had to pay before they would lift a finger. Their technician was very rude and unproffessional. He just hung up on my wife while she was trying to set up a meeting with him. Calls to their service center proofed futile. I had no choice but to get another security company to install a new system and provide me a service that would protect my family and my property. They were very upset that I cancelled the bank-order for their payments. After several letters, calls and e-mails, they keep sending me bills for the monitoring service, together with late fees, etc. etc. They want to hold me to the last year of the contract, but according to me, they broke the contract with their pathetic service. Stay away from them. They just want to rip you off, and they don't care about the safety of your family and the security of your property. If you are already a customer of them, be careful of the contract that just renews itself without informing you. If they have you, you're stuck with them. Update: No positive response from Safehome Security as of yet. I also filed a complaint with the BBB a month ago. Again, no response from them, apart from harrassing me for more money. I handed the case over to a Consumer Rights Lawyer, and he will handle any further developments in this case for me.  I checked their status at the BBB, and they have an F-rating. There are hundreds of similar complaints against them.  So, my view is still the same: STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. A BIG RIP-OFF! 2nd Update: No new developments. Just some harassing phone calls and a few pieces of mail. I just mark them as "Return to sender."  I do not bother to open any of their letters. I don't want to respond to their phone calls either, because I've told my story to various people over there, but it's like talking to a brick wall.  They couldn't care less.  All they're interested in is the money.

Recent Review For Red Alert: This company is a small local company in South Florida. My experience with them has been horrible! The one time that we needed them they did not come through. We set our alarm one night, and the next morning when we woke up, all of the lights in the alarm pad were off. When my daughter opened the front door the alarm started blaring. We called Red Alert trying to get someone to help us turn it off. After 40 minutes and numerous calls, the police finally arrived and turned the alarm off for us by going into the box and cutting wires. While this was going on, not one person at Red Alert could or would help us. They kept saying they would try to get the ONE and ONLY service person on the phone. Of course we never heard from him. We changed to Brinks and are very pleased.

Recent Review For Monitech Security: (Added <Apr/08) We had an alarm installed by Monitech Security in Wellington, FL. They are a Monitronics dealer. What a great company this is. Not pushy, great presentation informed us of every fee, explained all products in detail, easy to get a hold of when we had questions and the installation was with uniformed installers, that were polite and did a GREAT job. We checked them out on the BBB and myflorida.com and they had a perfect record. We had Brinks and ADT out to our home and both of these companies were pushy, had little knowledge and did not have the vast product line that Monitech had, and moreover, The Brinks sales person never told us that we would not own the security system they were going to install in our home. I recommended Monitech to two friends and they also are in love with Monitech. Monitech and Monitronics are the class of the security industry.
