(Added Aug 1/08) I BOUGHT an alarm system from ADT in Bentonville, ARKANSAS for my business just across the stateline in OKLAHOMA. A agreed to a ONE YEAR WARRANTY program...not monitoring or rental. Three months later, a burglar broke in and was captured 10 minutes later BY ME, across the street. Two months later a second thief broke in and STOLE THE ADT Recorder and a few other devices...hmmmm. Went STRAIGHT to the recorder, in the dark, in a hidden location. hmmmmm. We then went to ADT monitoring and when we had the recorder replaced, the ADT REPAIRMAN stated, "well, your keypad is a used keypad and hasn't in use for two years." FRAUD #1 We had PURCHASED but not received an OUTSIDE infrared camera for night time surveillance. FIVE months later, after CONSIDERABLE COMPLAINING, we received an INDOOR camera rigged-up that only worked in the daytime because of the crackerjack way it was placed and reflected its own image, in a handmade case. FRAUD #2 Third, we were informed that our FIVE YEAR RENTAL AGREEMENT was to be paid, etc, etc. The sales rep, ****** from Springdale or Bentonville or...ARKANSAS changed the PURCHASE agreement to a rental and was fired shortly afterwards for ???. Next, the keypad went out preventing us from shutting off the alarm, using the phone or as much as consulting with ADT to rectify the situation. Eventually, the (different) ADT REPAIRMAN ASSURED us it was under warranty since it was somehow a USED UNIT to start with (on a NEW PURCHASE). He replaced it free of charge...until the bill came two weeks later for $250 m/l ! ! !!!!!!!! We disputed the charge... dispute noted. Well, in THAT particular office we think since there is no record of it as of 22 July 2008. We CONTINUED to PAY THEIR FRAUDULENT BILL despite having NO KEYPAD, NO INFRA-RED CAMERA for FIVE MONTHS and a WORTHLESS WARRANTY. (As the jackass says on the "employee comments page," READ YOUR WARRANTY. What exactly DOES it cover, ADT?) I have since had BRINKS come do an assessment and: 1. The control panel is simply tossed up on the ceiling tiles 2. Will NOT pass State Installation Codes 3. The last repairman STOLE our backup battery pack! 4. We just received a BILL for $3300 m/l for ???? or else! 5. A call to customer service resulted in this posting. You can figure out how the call went on your own. 6. When I am asked to "contact my local office" I am given 1-800 #s to Pennsylvania, Las Vegas, Tulsa, Oklahoma City and B.F. Egypt! I have spoken to nearly every employee at ADT and have gotten a 180* opposite story on every concern! 7. When the last repairman left, he mentioned that ADT has "lightening insurance" that I should UPGRADE to. 8. ADT's very own repairman spent TWO HOURS, June 4th, on the phone with his own freaking company and they were unable to determine why we are being billed $500 m/l on one statement. 9. We are billed $80. on an accompanying statement. Regardless of paying the bill or not, the next month's statement continues to increase and show a past due amount of _____(enter your own amount)____. We will be featured in a NATIONAL MAGAZINE next month (which we are noted as being late paying already!) and I intend to share this HORROR story with the millions of readers around the World. Next, a former employee of mine works in the U.S. Attorney's office and I am calling him right now. As a former investigator, I find ADT to be horribly fraudulent, dishonest and of deviously undertakings. |

Recent Review For Alarm Systems of Arkansas: (Added <Apr/08) DON'T USE MONITRONICS, at least not in Little Rock. While the system itself is OK, the subcontractors they use are not knowledgable in their systems and if you ever call them to upgrade or fix your system, expect months before they will get back to you. You will literally have to call every day to check on what's going on, because the people of ALARM SYSTEMS OF ARKANSAS will tell (if you ever get in touch with them) that they will be there "tomorrow", then won't show up or call you to tell you they are not coming or why they didn't show. The most unprofessional business I have run into and that include contractors who work on houses. Then there is that damn 3 year contract. I called and complained to Monitronics about it and they said that our problem is not their problem and would have to pay out the rest of the contract. So if anything went wrong with our home security system, we couldn't get it fixed because of Monitronics sub-contractors won't show up, so for the next two years I am stuck it seems. |

Recent Review For ADSI: (Added Sep 17/11) I am a former executive security officer for a large national corporation, and when my wife and I decided to buy a lake house in Arkansas, I promptly investigated the local alarm providers in the area. The first company I called had an answering machine taking his calls. After two days he called me back, but his cell phone battery was down, and we got cut off. He never called back. The next company (I'll not call names, but they drive big yellow vans)sent out a young lady that was very nice, but was clueless about alarms. She made one misstatement after another about technical matters but she was quick to argue that her company was cheapest, and could do the job immediately. She assured me that my alarm would reach the central station even if the phone line was cut. I obviously knew better, and we had not talked about cellular backup. I was shocked to hear that she was the owner!!!!! I was getting concerned. I knew I did not want to deal with a company like ADT, but I was running out of options. I don't know how I missed them in the first pass, but I contacted ADSi. They promptly sent a very experienced agent out to meet me at my new home. He knew exactly what he was doing and actually listened to what I needed rather than going off on how cheap he could do a substandard job. I already knew exactly what I needed, but he had a few new ideas that I accepted. I investigated the central station he proposed to monitor my system, and found them to be absolutely world class. I had the alarm system installed, as well as surveillance cameras. It has already caught a prowler, would-be burglar. I really enjoy turning my camera out over the lake from my Milwaukee residence to watch boats on Lake Norfork remotely. A great system, reasonably priced, and installed as well as I have ever seen. Most of what I have seen on this site is negative, so I thought I might add a positive word about this company. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Added Oct 5/10) I find it very disturbing to read all the negative comments on this site regarding alarm companies. I hope all these stories are isolated incidents and not indicative of a massive problem. I have had an ADT system in California that I was very pleased with, but I can't say that I had any level of personal service. When I moved to Mountain Home Arkansas and started a small business, I intended to have a system installed by ADT, but discovered that the nearest branch was in Little Rock--- over three hours away. So I decided to take my chances with the local talent. After talking to all the local companies, I went with ADSI (Advanced Detection Systems Inc) and I could not have been more pleased! The salesman was knowledgeable, and it was clear that he was as interested in my security as he was in making a sale. He offered me numerous suggestions that ADT had never mentioned, and gave me quite an education on security systems in general. I was also pleased to know that there was a local face whose reputation depended upon my satisfaction. The installation was flawless, and I have had nothing but good results from each contact with the company. These guys are intently focused on quality and customer satisfaction. Something I was not accustomed to "back home". I would strongly recommend these guys. I have had my system for almost a year with no problems whatsoever. |
