Review For: Guardian Protection Services (Con't)
Guardian Protection Services is considered a super-regional company, concentrating its work in the following areas:  Phoenix, Arizona; Delaware; Orlando and Tampa, Florida; Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; southern Maryland; North Carolina; western New York; Ohio; eastern and western  Pennsylvania;  Raleigh, South Carolina; Texas; northern Virginia; Sheboygan, Wisconsin and the panhandle of West Virginia.   They use a subdealer program,  which means an independent contractor (or "sub dealer") will install your alarm system, and Guardian Protection will monitor it from their national monitoring center.  If you submit a review, let us know the name of the local company that installed your system.  It is also important that you note the logo on the right, to ensure you are submitting a review for the correct alarm company.

Please note the fact that a large number of companies in the security industry use the word "Guardian" in their business name. Our respondents may or may not be referring to "Guardian Protection Services, Inc".
We recently moved from Cincinnati to New Jersey due to job relocation.  My wife and I are currently renting.  I called to cancel my account with Guardian Protection Services because our situation has fundamentally changed and we no longer have monitoring needs.

I spoke with ********* in Customer Support and he went on to explain my options - all of which were involved me paying more money to Guardian or me finding someone else to pay them for services that I will not use.  The most laughable option involved disabling their service and continuing to pay for it!  Great option, thanks Guardian!

After about twenty minutes, I gave up and asked to speak with his supervisor.  I spoke to ***** from Customer Support.  She was as equally difficult to deal with, although she repeatedly told me that she understands my situation.  She gave rationale as to why Guardian must enforce the duration of the contract.  It is to recover their investment on the equipment that they installed.  When I explained that my house was pre-fitted with monitoring equipment, this didn't seem to matter.  I then asked her, since their business model focuses on recouping their investment in equipment, how much did the equipment cost?  It was at this point, that ***** really started to give me the run-around.  "Well, we don't have that number, but I can give you a discount on your buyout payment."  She went on to give me an offer of $750 to buy my way out of the contract.  Living in New Jersey, I can tell you that you'd probably get better terms from the mob.  What a scam of a business!  This is wrong!

My advice to anyone considering Guardian Protection Services is, know who you are dealing with.  They will try to extract as much money out of you as possible.  They are not on your side.  You will need a protection service to protect you from Guardian.  As a customer facing a major corporation, you are at a major disadvantage.
