Guardian Protection Services is considered a super-regional company, concentrating its work in the following areas: Phoenix, Arizona; Delaware; Orlando and Tampa, Florida; Indiana; Chicago, Illinois; southern Maryland; North Carolina; western New York; Ohio; eastern and western Pennsylvania; Raleigh, South Carolina; Texas; northern Virginia; Sheboygan, Wisconsin and the panhandle of West Virginia. They use a subdealer program, which means an independent contractor (or "sub dealer") will install your alarm system, and Guardian Protection will monitor it from their national monitoring center. Please note the fact that a large number of companies in the security industry use the word "Guardian" in their business name. Our respondents may or may not be referring to "Guardian Protection Services, Inc".
I called Guardian Protection Services today to have them conduct a test on my system because there has been a failure to communicate code on my box.
They conducted the test and said they did not have a signal. They asked me if I switched phone service since my install. I told them yes and apparently that is the problem. Fine. They said they would have to send someone out to fix it becase I was supposed to call them when the phone installer was there. I explained that my install tech never informed me of any such thing! They said "well it's in your agreement!" They then told me the cost for one of their techs to come out is $48.00 plus $12.00 every 15 minutes!!!
I then found out I was locked into a 5 year contract and if I wanted to get out of the contract it would cost over a $1,000.00 plus I would have to pay for the remaining months left on the contract! I have two years left! I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!!
One of my friends has ADT and she had a tech out the same day w/out charge! They do not use phone lines and they have never had a situation like I did where I did not get a call back when my alarm sounded!! I have to wait till 2011 to get rid of these crooks and fortunately I learned from reading on here that I will have to send in a letter 30 days before the end to assure they will not renew my contract!!
Do not use them they are the worst!! I am filing a complaint with BBB!!!
