The stories you've read are true, we were hard pressed to get their service right after we were robbed. We were offered free install, then all the hype we were told by the salesman was untrue.
Promises broken with lies, then came the day for the tech to install our system. He showed up 2 hours late then he didn't know what he was doing. He spent almost 8 hours in the house and left a large hole in my wall that wasn't found till after he left. He left boxes of junk he stashed in my basement, I think he was just lazy and didn't take when he left. 2 days later we went to leave the house and the alarm didn't work, so we called and another tech was in the area. He showed up and spent about an hour and fixed it. He was nice enough to explain that whoever installed it didn't know what he was doing, and had reversed all the wiring and didn't wire up 2 contacts.
In or about November of 2007 we received a call from a tech, that they were out doing upgrades to alarm systems. We got a new monitor box and he explained the new features and left, and yes we made sure he was really with the company.
Then in February of 2008 we set the alarm and it didn't work, tried to call them with no response. Called again next morning, someone answered the phone gave the greeting, I asked to speak with a rep. Put on hold, spent over an hour waiting, then got hung up on. Called again then no answer. Around April 2008 another company was out doing sales in our area and we found out then that they filed bankrupcy they were no longer in business. We never got a letter from Firstline that it was no longer in business. The next morning the same guy came I spoke with from the other company and told me our contract was bought by Counterforce in Tx. My wife called the company from the number we got from the sales rep. After 4 hours they finally answered the phone, put her on hold 5 minutes later, then hung up the phone also. We never got a letter from them either, so the best route for us was to stop payments through the bank. Then 3+ months later got a letter from them notice of non payment. Since then I told them I'm done, I've never used a system for guarding my home and now I see why.
Salesman: Beware and bypass my house. I don't like to be lied to and scammed and that's all I see this as. I think it's a shame when folks need and like safety for their families, want protection for their property, and it's no worse then if they came and robbed me!
