System was sold to us as a GE product line (you know... respectable name). We set up direct bill pay thru our bank.  When account was later sold/transferred to FirstLine they screwed up the account number so payments stopped being made.

Approx a year afterwards, received threatening letter from FirstLine with huge payment due.  Spent literally hours on hold trying to get the account squared away. On one occasion my patience was rewarded... I talked to someone in billing, gave them the correct account # (they had transposed a digit... so they must have entered the account transfers manually) and authorized a payment over the phone.  Some time later, got another threatening letter... I think this one from SAI.  Again, spent hours on hold, but finally got thru to them and was told I'd have to pay them the entire amount... apparently the payment I authorized over the phone was not processed correctly either.  At this point, as I recall, I told them I had no faith in their ability to secure my home, that we had stopped using the system.  In the brief time we actually used it we had two false alarms that required my wife(once) and me and my neighbor (once) to come home from work to deal with the police.  I told them we were no longer using the system and that they should come and get it and that I was not going to pay for it.  As you might imagine, they were less than pleased with me, and threatened to turn me over to collections.

Sure enough, this week my neighbor (who is my emergency contact), my wife and I have all received calls from a collections agency who says I owe $3400 for equipment and monitoring.  They offered to trim this to $1300 and let me walk... I told them no thanks.

They can sue me.
