I had this alarm installed in December of 2006. I have had some problems and a few events that I think should warrant the breaking of the contract.
The first happened in March/April of 2007. I was at work when I got a call from dispatch that said my alarm was going off and they wanted to know if I wanted to police to be called. I asked them what had been triggered to set off the alarm, a door open, window broke, or motion. I was told to hold on and the line was disconnected. I called back and was on hold for almost 20 minutes. In this time, I left work, drove to within 2 blocks of my house before the person in dispatch came back on and said he was still checking. He never did figure out what triggered the alarm. This I was told was going to be dealt with internally. No signs of entry were found and nothing was missing.
On November 29th, I was at the house, and in a rush to leave for the airport I set off the alarm. It went off for about 20 seconds before I could get it to stop. I reset the alarm and knew everything was fine and waited for your call center to call. No call was received. The number on file is my cell phone. I also called my second on the contact list to let him know about it if you called him instead. Nobody got a call.
I have a cell unit for the alarm since I do not have a home telephone line. said that the unit once a month calls home to you and verifies that it is still working. He informed me that mine hasn't called home since August 26th. For 3 months my alarm has not been monitored. I asked if they knew about it and they said they have no way to get a list of alarms that are not reporting. This also is a problem. I went to the house on 12/8 and purposely set the alarm off. It screamed for about 40 seconds before I turned it off and waited for your call. Never came. I called dispatch 10 minutes later and they had no record of the alarm going off.
After all the problems I have had and the lack of monitoring, I think I have grounds to break from the 3 year contract early. I am not happy with the level of service I have received or the response and attitudes from your staff.
