Recent Review For Broadview Home Security:
As of June 30, 2009, Brink's Home Security will officially be known as Broadview Security (You can read about the details here: Big changes at Brink's) Like Brink's, Broadview uses a sub-dealer program in areas where they have no corporate presence. This means that a local company will install and service your alarm, and Broadview will monitor it.  Therefore the review listed here may not be for or against corporate Broadview, but a completely independent local dealer.  If you submit a review, please indicate whether the review is regarding Broadview corporate, the local company who installed your system, or both.

Top 5 Complaints Of Home Security Customers
I was a Brinks customer for over 10 years and had a system installed in my mom's house over 5 years ago.  I pay for both accounts and was always happy with Brinks.

When my husband lost his job, I called to cancel service and they worked with me to reduce my monthly monitoring fees so it was affordable (it was reduced for 6 months).

Then Broadview took over, raised my monitoring fees so I called.
(Note from admin: Broadview did not "take over" Brinks.  They only changed the name.  Otherwise they are still the same company).   A very nice lady said she'd reduce my fees on both accounts if I signed a new contract.  I did and 1 month later my mom cancelled her land line to save money.  Broadview would not let me cancel her account they said I'd have to pay $300 for another piece of equipment and $30/mo for monitoring on that property.  What a rip off!  Not even considerate or willing to work with people during this economy.

My mom is 75, works 2 jobs and is trying to cut her expenses.  I am going to share my experience with the Chicago papers and consumer watchdog groups to see if something can be done.  Otherwise, I'm paying a monitoring fee for the next 3 years with no service.

I can't wait to cancel and will never use them again. Absolutely disappointing and no way to treat customers.
