This Brink's Home Security customer review has been submitted anonymously by a present or former Brink's burglar alarms client.  Please note that Brink's uses a sub-dealer program, which usually means that a local company will install and service your alarm, and Brinks will monitor it.  So a review listed here may not be for or against corporate Brinks, but a completely independent local dealer.  If you submit a review, please indicate whether the review is regarding Brinks corporate, or the local company who installed your system.

NOTE:  If you are submitting a Brink's alarm review, please specify the local company that installed it, if applicable.

After reading reviews on a number of companies, and talking to them on the phone, I invited 3 companies to give me quotes.  They were Brinks, ADT, and an independent company.  All three were very professional, stuck to discussing my actual needs, presented their plans, and avoided any negativity.  I was impressed.

I decided to go with Brinks, and the installation was performed the next day.  Contrary to some comments here, the installer knew exactly what he was doing, and he was very careful.  He tested everything, and left nothing to chance.  The job was handled exactly as specified, and the system appears to be working fine.

Some people here note that Brinks will remove the equipment if the contract is not removed.  That was all made clear in the initial presentation.  Furthermore, I don't expect them to "repair" holes, etc.  If I were to decide to not have their service when the contract is complete, I would want the latest equipment anyway.  It is important to realize that no company will warranty another company's equipment, and I had Brinks remove the existing system and replace it with theirs.  I pay extra for a warranty, but my previous experience was that even new equipment broke and the provider kept charging me for replacement parts to those that were defective by design.  I like the concept of a fixed cost per month with Brinks.  As a business man, I know that their contract actually allows them to provide a better overall service.

In the end, the Brinks deal was choosen because it was less expensive then the competitors who actually sell you their systems.  Both ADT and the independent used the same equipment, and it does have the expansion capability to provide more services that I just didn't need  Overall, with these 3 companies, I felt this decision process was made easier by the professionalism of their staff, and I appreciate their work ethic.  I would have no problem recommending any of them in the future.
