(Added June 14/11) As my job involves security and operations, I have worked with all the little and big Alarm companies out there over the years. I can say without hesitation Bay Alarm is the best. When there is a problem, they fix it. When they say they are going to do something, they do it. They charge a fair (yet not the cheapest) price, and they deliver. At times, I have not liked what they have had to tell me, but I always found it reasonable and honest. Do your own research though... 5 years ago while taking bids for a modest sized fire system I visited two local Alarm company offices, one being Bay Alarm. This sealed the deal for me to go with Bay Alarm. Bay was clean and professional. The other alarm company was very unimpressive to put it mildly. If your serious about buying security, ask your sales rep for the same tour opportunity, as it speaks volumes.
On a general note, while there appears to be many valid opinions on this board, there seem to be a few people with an ax to grind. My experience with alarm companies has taught me:
1. If you sign a contract be prepared to honor that commitment. Alarm companies WILL come after the outstanding balance owed, regardless if you "close" your account or not (if this sounds unfair, try to "close" your mortgage account while you still owe the bank money and see how far you get!!).
2. Ex-employees exposing the "secret inner workings" of a company hold ZERO credibility, so beware there as well.
3. One person intimated that an alarm company's background checked employees were responsible for a burglary? That is irresponsible and childish and should be disregarded
