An APX Alarm representative (door to door salesman) came to my 84 year old mother-in-laws house and sold her an alarm system with a life alert type personal protection feature. When family members found out we went to investigate and found out she had signed a 42 month contract.

We talked with the representative and told him she did not need this system, cancel the contract and remove the system. He used every high pressure tactic in the book to try to get us to keep it and would not take "we don't want it" for an answer.

He even made one statement saying that "he could care less if we bought it and that he didn't care if she laid on the floor and suffered."

He said a phone call to APX was all it would take to cancel the contract. I was able to get his supervisor's name and phone number and he told me the same on canceling. However, the contract states a signed statement must be sent in. APX customer service said that a signed statement must be sent in and they will call the customer to verify.

We faxed a signed statement and then later called APX. It took 2 hours on the phone (being put on hold and being transferred from one person to another) and asking if they would rather talk to our Attorney to get satisfaction. They kept wanting to call us back which would probably never happen.

I had even sent a complaint form on their website. The website stated that they would contact you that day. However, 3 days later and I have not heard anything from them.

This company can not be trusted. The salesmen are extremely high pressure. Everybody gives you the run a around. They are trying to drag this on as long as they can in hopes of you just giving up. Giving up is what would happen to most people in my town as they were targeting Senior Citizens.

Update:
This happend back in August. I filed complaint with them right away and again in November They finally called and left message the middle of December. I have been unable to re-contact them.
APX Alarms have been installing and selling (usually door-to-door) security systems since 1999, with monitoring centers in Utah and Minnesota.  (These "in-house" central stations are quite new for APX, so older clients may still be monitored by ADT, SAI, Criticom, or Monitronics). Please remember that APX Alarms has thousands of other clients that may (or may not) be happy with their service, and this is only a small sampling of the opinions of their customers.

If you have had a good or bad experience with APX or any other alarm company, please submit your review!  Reviews are only edited for spam and/or vulgar language.
