I was happy with the APX alarm system for about 4 hours after they installed the system, then I took a look at the reviews and the BBB rating and I decided to return the system.
I read most of the reviews and there were more negative reviews than I expected. There were warnings of scams, so I took a look at the contract I signed and found that I had been scammed. The salesmen told me that the fee per month was $44.99, when I took a look at the contract I saw that he had changed the second 4 to a 9 making it $49.99 a month. He said he was going to give me a deal and waive the $99.00 activation and installation fee, but I realized that he had crossed out the $99.00 on the contract and put a zero and had me initial it, but it was written in ink on my copy of the contract and probably wouldn't be valid. I'm not sure yet if they charged my account $99.00, but I'm sure they will.
When I looked up the BBB report to find their rating was a C- and in my opinion that is too low, especially if I'm in a 42 month contract with the business. I was told that I could cancel the contract anytime, but when I looked in the folder I found the cancellation slip stating that you have 3 days to cancel your order.
I think the system is very nice and I wouldn't have had a problem with the system if they hadn't lied to me. I'm not happy with that and I would not recommend it to anyone.
I would rather myself, friends and family only deal with honest people.

APX Alarms have been installing and selling (usually door-to-door) security systems since 1999, with monitoring centers in Utah and Minnesota. (These "in-house" central stations are quite new for APX, so older clients may still be monitored by ADT, SAI, Criticom, or Monitronics).
