I want to add a bit of positive as most of these reviews that I'm reading are not. We had our system installed 8/2009. Just like so many others, yes the salesman came ot our door and used the same tactic, put a sign in the yard for advertising etc....your neighbors are jumping on the band wagon etc...We were thinking about an alarm so we listened and signed the contract.
Most are complaining they were offered free equipment but had to pay an activation fee and monthly fee.....get over it already people...You pay an activation fee when you bought your phone or upgrade and don't complain about that...yes it's higher but then alarms system is much more thne a phone yes??? Monthly fee, well come on, you are paying for a monitoring service...and let me tell you...I've had two false alarms and the police were there in minutes....worth the fee....and if you want to look at it another way...you are really just paying for the equipment over a period of time....so if you cancel...yes you have to pay a fee but then you are just paying off the equipment and it's yours...it still works you just don't have the monitoring service...but it still might be enough to scare off an intruder.
This year my son just bought a house and had APX installed with the touch panel and smoke detector..so yes for an additional amount, I'm upgrading to the touch screen and they are giving me 2 free smoke detectors, a solor light for my sign and including two new remote controls. I also had a faulty sensor, guess what...no hassel, they came and replaced it FREE... I've called to get help changing a password and again...no hassel...
I suppose if people want to think it's a scam then nothing can change their mind but I'm a happy customer to date. In all honesty though, I do wonder what the cost of monitoring will be when my contract is up but again, I'm sure they will be willing to negotiate to keep me in the same pay range as I am... Taking my money out of my account automatically monthly was a bit unsettling but that was a chance but so far also proved to not be as worrisome as most are making it...

APX Alarms have been installing and selling (usually door-to-door) security systems since 1999, with monitoring centers in Utah and Minnesota. (These "in-house" central stations are quite new for APX, so older clients may still be monitored by ADT, SAI, Criticom, or Monitronics). Please remember that APX Alarms has thousands of other clients that may (or may not) be happy with their service, and this is only a small sampling of the opinions of their customers.
