An APX sales rep came to our house around 8:00 Tuesday evening, so I answered the door thinking, "OK, I'll just answer to get rid of this guy." But then he started telling me about the alarm system and piqued my interest.
My wife and I had talked about getting an alarm system, but we have been living in our house for almost a year now and have yet to do it, so I figured now was as good a time as any. The sales rep was very polite and very informative. He even offered to take his shoes off when I invited him in the house. He showed us his badge and let us write down all his information and everything. After talking to him for about an hour, my wife and I decided we needed to think it over on our own for a day or two, and do some research because we had never heard of APX before. He had no problem with this, and encouraged us to do all the research we wanted and come up with as many questions as we could. So we set an appointment for him to come the next day and finish our conversation.
Before he came, I read as many reviews as I could and the one thing I learned was to know what you are getting in to and read the contract before you sign it! I also wrote down questions about all of the other little complaints that people had, like activation fees, police permits, billing dates, contract terms, contract length, etc. When we met up with the sales rep again he answered every single one of my questions thoroughly and honestly. He even offered to "re-imburse" my for the first month's bill, since we did not have the money right then and there to pay. He gave me $80 cash out of what I believe was his own pocket. The installer made it to the house about 5 minutes before we finished all the paperwork, and he did not start drilling any holes or anything until he spoke with us. They finished in less than an hour. The entire experience went as smooth as possible. I feel like we lucked out with our sales rep, who I believe was actually a manager, not just a sales rep. After reading all the reviews about bad sales reps who lied and left out details, I'm just so glad we got our guy.
My advice to anyone looking to get an alarm system is to do your research and ask tons of questions! If they are not willing to answer your questions, or if they do not want to let you do your own research, then don't do business with them. I am %100 satisfied with APX so far. I will be sure to come back in a few weeks to update how I like the actual equipment and service.
