I am writing about a horrible experience my Mother went through with APX.
A sales rep showed up at her door on June 12 in Des Moines, Iowa. She had another security system and said she was not interested, but she would think about it. Sales rep showed up again two hours later with a tech guy and they entered the house (she is 86 years old and shouldn't have let them in, but they were somewhat forceful). The told her that she needed this system and began to install and remove the ADT system she had for years. They were in her house until AFTER 10:30 p.m. on a Saturday installing.
She asked how much the new system would cost her, and they said "nothing at this time." But, they asked her for a voided check for future auto draft payments. She doesn't like to pay bills this way, but they told her it was required. So, they had told her that there would be no charge now, and they did not know what future charges would be. Within two days, $151.99 had been deducted from her bank account for APX.
We inspected the installation for my Mom and found out that the motion detectors and two of the window monitoring devices were not working. They had CUT the wires from the ADT system in the basement and just left them hanging bare.
This is a scam, unprofessional, and it appears these people prey on innocent elderly who are vulnerable.
Needless to say, ADT is reinstalling their system, yanking out the APX system.
I have instructed my Mom to call the police if APX shows up on her property for anything.
