I really wish I had a chance to read these reviews before APX came knocking on my door last Saturday.
They basically don't give you a chance to catch your breath. What they're selling seems like a good idea, but it's really not. If you had a chance to think about it you'd realize that. They told me I was getting "free" installation and "free" equipment (two keypads and a keyfob for me). But these things aren't free; the monthly fee for monitoring is high (49.00 before taxes) and the contract term (42 months) is long. By the time done you're done with your contract you've paid for the "free" installation and equipment.
I cancelled within the 3 day period and they're coming to my house to remove what they installed. I had a perfectly good hard-wired system before they replaced it and I talked to 3 different customer service reps and was told that they would not return my system to working order. Two of them tried to tell me they weren't licensed to do this. I don't believe that. If they're not licensed to do that then they weren't licensed to install the system they did. The other customer service agent said that since it wasn't explicitly in my contract they didn't have to so. I'm not asking them to set up the monitoring part of the system. I just want to make sure they haven't damaged any of the wiring in the system.
In any case, I'm going to have to have someone come out to my house to fix whatever they've done to my alarm system. If they do put my system back successfully, then no harm done, but if they won't then I guess I'll be contacting the state board and the BBB. Buyer beware. I wish you all better luck than I've had so far.
I will update this after they've removed my system.
