Your house is not secure with this company!

My mother had this system placed at her house about a year ago. She had problems with previous tenants who kept coming back and taking things. My sister and I both live in CA while she is in a small town in CO. She kept complaining about hearing noises upstairs in the rental but we would reassure her that the alarm system was on and she was safe. In August she was killed outside her front door by a rogue bear. We have since been relying on the APX alarm system.

My sister went to Mom's house a week ago and discovered that the phone line had been disabled outside her house. Numerous items had been taken from her house. I spoke with 3 people at APX to try to understand how nobody was notified that the line to the alarm had been cut allowing anyone access to the house. I had called when we left the house in August to let them know my Mom died and wondered how the system would be tested with the house empty. They said they did monthly checks to make sure the system was working and that I was at the top of the list to be notified if something was wrong.

When I talked to them today they said it can take up to a MONTH for a person to go through the reports of these tests. So when it was tested on the 10th of this month and it indicated a problem no one saw it and apparently if they did see it a month from now they would probably not call me anyhow because it was considered "a courtesy call". I was told they would just have the computer send out another test that would be reviewed maybe in 3-4 weeks. This is a FATAL flaw in the system.

I was then told that for another $5.00 a month & $180.00 for another box the signal would be cellular and so the reg phone line wouldn't affect the service. I guess it I had been called on the 10th when the test failed I could have arranged for this, but my sister has to go back to her business and can't wait another few days until a rep shows up (my Mom complained numerous time about how flaky the rep in the area was about even showing up before because he lived over two hundred miles away). So now I am stuck with a security system that is proven unreliable until I can get out there to change it.

VERY FRUSTRATING! DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THESE PEOPLE! They are horrid! I have a GE system in CA is very responsive and would never have let this happen.
