I'm suprised at all the comments saying that the saleperson lied, because after I agreed to purchase the service, I had to talk with the company to make sure everything the salesperson told me was true.
For example, did I understand that the contract was for 39 months, did he tell me the fee was $46 every month, etc. The installer came in and did the install very quickly. He did make one mistake and the window alarm was confused with the motion detector so we had a false alarm that night. Also, as with other posters, I was somewhat suprised that the window sensor was placed in the front of the house where I feel it's unlikely that someone would break a window - wouldn't you go to the backyard where no one can see you? Other than that, it was what it was. Everything was very straight forward an there was no deception. The panic buttons on the key fobs are a really nice feature and so far I'm satisfied with the service.
Update (Added Oct 15/09):
I originally posted on 6/1/09 and was asked to comment on if I was still satisfied with my service and I am. The only comment I would have is that they are often slow to call you with the message that your power has gone off. The idea is that someone could cut your power in an attempt to disarm the system (we have batteries for back-up). The first time the electricity went off they called about 15 minutes later to notify us, but the second time they called the next day. It's not that big of a deal since 99.99999% of the time when the electricity goes out, it's just a power company problem, but at the same time, if you're going to call it a feature, you should get it right.
The customer service so far has been excellent...Again, I would do some research on where you want your movement sensors because the install guy I had new how to operate a drill but not so good at really thinking through home security. For example, I would have preferred the motion detector to be in the back of the house where a criminal would likely go because no one could see him/her. The front of the house is very visible to the street, so I don't think that was the best place for the motion detector, but I hadn't really thought it through when they came and thought they would know best.
