I don't know who the rep is that keeps writing these "good" reviews for APX, but they need to find a job with an actual company, rather than a nationwide scam.
We were sold the alarm system late on a Saturday night, by an energetic Idaho kid (empahsis on the word "kid", as he wasn't more than 17 or 18) named ********. Our house was "in a strategic area" for them and they wanted to place a sign in our yard for advertisement. In trade, we would recieve the alarm system installation free of charge. He did his sales pitch and we agreed, and about 20 minutes later, a van with another kid showed up to install the system.
By now it's 9 o'clock at night, our kids are ready for bed, and this kid, ********, starts drilling holes in our walls. "Can't this wait?" "We'll be done shortly" is the response. This rapid fire sales/installation technique ensures that you don't have time to read the contract and the lateness of the hour of the sale helps, also. It's a FIVE YEAR CONTRACT!!! We were lied to consistently by both **** and *****, with them telling us we can cancel the service at any time. Well, not exactly lied to. We can cancel at any time, we just have to pay a $2,699.40 cancellation fee...or pawn the system and the scam artists who run it off onto a loved one. "Mom, here's a present for you! You owe $2,699.40. Happy Birthday!"
We've never had any incidents with a break in, so I don't know if the system even works. So we kept the system for about 10 months, and when I lost my job and could no longer afford it, I called to cancel. Well, that's when a silver tongued rep tells me I am more than welcome to cancel, "and how would you like to pay off your balance today, sir?" What's the balance? $2,229.50! I stated truthfully that I was never informed of a cancelation fee by either ****** or ******, that I was told I could cancel anytime. "You can cancel anytime, but you must pay the fee. It's like a cell phone contract." First of all, a cell phone company's contract is for two years, not five, and a cancelation fee is about $200.00, not $2,229.50. I stated I don't have anyone foolish enough to take this system off my hands, I was lied to, and I want out. There is no way out.
I asked for the number of the collections department they use so I could speak to them. I recieved the number 1-800-400-4550 for ADLG Law Office. I called them, and they have absolutely no record of me whatsoever. I guess this is a good thing, but makes me VERY suspicious about APX as an even remotely legitimate business. Long story short, do not do business with this company. Period. If one of their "sales" kids come up to you, tell them to get off your property or you will call the police. After all, they're robbing you blind by making you believe they're protecting you from thieves wanting to rob you blind...
