Top 5 Complaints Of Home Security Customers
Last week we had a visit from a pleasant young man, representing APX.

I had no complaints about how he presented himself, although we did feel very pressured to sign up that night. We were going away the next day and I asked him to return on Monday, he said the offer would be gone, he only had to sell 12 and he would have that done by then.  We agreed to sign the contract but asked for installation to be delayed till we got back, it was 8pm.  He reluctantly agreed.

The main point - I was not sure if I was finished my contract with ADT, and it was too late to call.  He said part of his obligation was to make a call to find out whether or not I was under a service agreement.  He even had a slip of paper that he had to sign saying he had done so.  He made a quick call and found out I was NOT under contract.  So we signed up.

I called the next week to cancel ADT, and found out I have 3 months left in the contract.  ADT told me if someone had called to find out if I was under contract, they would not have given out that confidential information!  So this was completely bogus.  I called APX, and they apologized, said a formal complaint would be made regarding the rep. They agreed to cancel my service (I was within the 10 days).

Tomorrow I fax the cancellation notice and cross my fingers that they honor the contract.  Moral of the story - do your own research first, and if they won't come back in a few days, they must not want your business.

Update:
The problem was resolved in the sense that my contract was cancelled and they refunded my money.  However I was never told the result of the inquiry into the employees' conduct.  I have since heard similar stories from many others.  I would like to know if the practice of asking people to sign up and receive installation the same night is still in effect.
