Beware of this system! To make a long story short, salesman came to my door at 7pm--before paperwork was complete the 'installer' was in my house.
He must have been new to the job as he had trouble 'drilling' into the metal frame of my patio door and the wall where the unit was to be hung--he actually acted put-out as the wall between my dining room and garage was a firewall--which meant he drilled into the dining room wall--strung the wire on the outside of my garage wall and then drilled more holes on both sides of the wall so that he could more easily string the wire from my phonejack to where the unit was hung. It was after 10pm before he was done. The salesman wrote on the paperwork that I was to have a lighted APX sign on the outside of my house, but the installer said I didn't need the light as the sign was under my house light.
Within 36 hours, I contacted the company by fax, that I wanted to cancel. I also called and was told that they could not confirm receipt of my fax, but I would be hearing from a service rep in 3 to 5 days to set an appointment to have the system taken out. I was told both over the phone and by the salesman that if I cancelled within 3 business days, my check would be returned to me.
Now 3 weeks and several phonecalls -initiated by me--later, someone came to my door last night and was extremely rude and nasty--told me I had damaged the system and I would not be getting a refund check--I asked him what damage he saw--and he didn't show me any--but apparently there was something on the plastic casing that had been drilled into the metal frame of my door. I told him the damage had occurred when it was installed and that the tech had had a lot of trouble getting everything installed. He also demanded I give him the light that was to have been on the sign and I told him the tech had not left a light. He then told me I was full of bull**** and I was liable for the entire system and I would be hearing from their lawyer.
I'm not waiting to hear from the company--I'm going to my bank--to close my account. Do not let this company in your home--do not give them a check!
