BEWARE of what the salesman tells you. When dealing with APX, please read the contract before signing it.
An APX salesman came to my door to sell the alarm system, and offered me this "great deal": A free installation. I thought it was a good deal, so I decided to try it out. I asked how much it would be monthly for monitoring and was told it was between $35-40. That didn't sound too bad, but I did not want to get involved in a long term contract, so I specifically asked this salesman if it would be easy to cancel the service if I decided not to keep it. He basically told me that yes, it is easy and that normally they would give me a few weeks to try it out and let me back out of the contract after that time. So I signed the contract (shouldn't have done without reading it but I trusted the salesman. My bad.)
Anyways, turns out that I had signed a FIVE year contract, which was never mentioned to me by the salesman. Also, the fine print on the contract says that I will have only THREE (3) days after signing the contract to cancel. Plus somehow the cost rose to $46 and not the $35-$40 he was quoting me. So I immediately faxed the cancellation form to the company that day and I'm currently waiting to see if the contract will be cancelled.
I called the customer service before faxing the cancellation form and they seemed very helpful, so this isn't to complain about the company as a whole. But the salesman that came to my door was very deceptive, basically lied to me. So just be careful when dealing with them. This company offers FIVE year contract and allows only THREE days to cancel. That's what they won't tell you.
